LOL! I was curious of the same. If I win I would be hopeing for a trio of new QSC 3-ways for my home cinema to replace my JBL stage speakers. [Eek!]

I can imagine Brad rolling his eyes at this lol. [Big Grin]

A man can dream right? lol

AMC Barrywoods 24 Prime auditorium (12)

Somewhat off topic, going through my ticket stubs, I've been to 43 movies at that theater, and have yet to step foot into 9 different auditoriums of the 24

Cool I love talking bout this stuff.

Ive been to that theater with my wife three times. We have kept of every movie we have seen starting since 2009 I believe. We met in 2005 and wished we would have started keepint them sooner.

Twice in the they'r ETX theater (now PRIME) seeing Brave in Atmos and The Great Gatsby which wasn't an Atmos mix. I was pissed as the whole reason I wanted to go there was to see Iron Man 3 and hear Atmos again but my wife changed plans and we came to town the next day and it was gone; replaced with TGG!
Third visit was just a few months back and we seen Guardians of the Galaxy at the IMAX there. Great looking bright 3D. Bass was too hot and subs were crying uncle at times lol. Go figure. Sounded good other than that. I thought Brave and Atmos there was fantastic though I hate the aspect ratio of the PRIME theaters screen without masking. Have they added masking since?

I peaked into another theater I cant remember the number and noticed that there were no surrounds on the walls. I then noticed that they were only on the ceiling and they looked wimpy. Ive heard of other AMC's doing this. Im now scared to see a movie in any other theaters there unless its IMAX or the now PRIME theater which Im excited to see.

Yeah the surrounds are hidden up in the corner of the wall/ceiling.

The standard auditoriums are middle of the road. They sound better than the 10 plex I work at, but not as good as the THX built Cinemark on the plaza.

No masking in the Prime house, unfortunately. [Frown] I feel like the auditorium has it and they just aren't using it. Why would they take it out? Surely the place was built with masking in '97... All the standard auditoriums have masking.

I saw at least one feature when the Prime house was just ETX; Gravity on Nov 15, 2013.

I far prefer the prime to Imax there, the sound in the imax house never fails to incite a raging headache.

Thanks Buck.

Son of a bitch I was hoping the Prime would have masking!! Blows my damn mind that these theaters aren't making that a priority in such a supposed Prime theater.

Ya the IMAX there and bout everywhere is more like a concert than a movie sound, although I feel if they lowered the sub level and movie volume things would be better. I do like it loud as long as its not distorting or dynamics are getting squashed. Also if the dialouge is tickling the ear than the volume is too loud. Im also not a fan of the single surround in the corner approuch of IMAX. Pans just arent the same as a surround array on wall approach.
