Typical idiotic behavior. The same crap is happening at home for "near field mixes". Bad choice. Horrible experience. 2) Large dark spot on the screen. Bad DLP chip? 3) None too impressed with the sound. Now I will say this: Jurassic Park came out in 1993 and the theatre I managed had DTS installed for this film. The sound was amazing and blew me away in 1993. I remember running to open the auditorium doors on that last scene with the Tyranosaur. The people waiting in line in the lobby were very impressed with the loud dinosaur sounds coming out of the theatre. The sound was amazing and blew me away in 1993. I cannot compare yet, because I didn't see it yet. But at least in my case, my memory fooled me several times. I've witnessed a 35mm presentation in SRD of Saving Private Ryan not that long ago. The sound system is usually perfectly fine in that theater, but the sound mix was by far not as impressive as I remembered it. It was there throughout the entire show. I did not see any stain or anything on the screen before picture hit it. Posts: 10973 From: Lawton, OK, USA Registered: Apr 2001 posted 04-29-2013 08:56 AM                     Could the dark spot be due to a burn mark on a reflector in the lamp house?  |  IP: Logged Marcel Birgelen Film God Posts: 3357 From: Maastricht, Limburg, Netherlands Registered: Feb 2012 posted 05-06-2013 06:33 PM                     The reflector itself is a lens and there is probably at least another condenser lens before it hits the DMDs, so I guess it is highly unlikely if not even impossible that a burn mark inside the reflector would end up as a small, dark spot on the screen. Whatever it was, it must either have been in or near the focus of the projection lens or on the screen itself. I've had a chance to see/hear the 3D release. I found the dialog to be somewhat uneven and the surround was probably a whole bit more present than in the original mix. The worst part was probably the footsteps part of the first T-Rex attack, it missed impact. Overall, I didn't think the mix was bad and to be honest, my recollection of the original DTS mix is so vague, that I don't dare to compare.  |  IP: Logged
