If I remember correctly, I was running three Ballentyne Pro-35's with Potts platters. One three deck and one five deck. It was my first job in the theatre business, and it was also a new 3-plex theatre in my hometown. Not counting 16mm in college...was it something someone let me lace up from a platter in a theatre? Was it a Siskel & Ebert screening at the post production center? A better question would be what were the first dailies I ran but there are two or three possibilities among films shooting at the same time so I don't know there either. First unmarried feature? Nope...can't remember. I do remember the first VistaVision I ran but it wasn't on a projector. It was some effects footage for Ron Howard on the set of Backdraft on an ILM contraption made partly from Moviola components and nicknamed The Thrasher. It was really an assistant editor's task to do this but I helped unpack it and deciphered how to use it so when they needed someone to go run something for Howard a Teamster was summoned and down to the set we went.  |  IP: Logged Sam D. Century C's with Motiograph sound heads and Peerless Magnarcs. I don't know the english title, in french it was "Train de nuit" = "Night train". in 35 mm with Ernemann VII B projectors (and carbon arc lamphouses !) : "Which way to the front ?" starring Jerry Lewis (four reels ; in french : ya ya mon general !) in 70 mm : alas, no film  |  IP: Logged Phil Blake Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 558 From: esperance western australia Registered: Nov 2003 posted 10-01-2004 10:08 AM                        Mine was Star Wars 1977 , at the drive in and it was packed! , we ran it for 2 weeks , a record for our drive in , we had a rep from fox on site , lucky he was at the kiosk when the number 1 BTH carbon arc lamphouse caught fire. With a pumping heart and shaky hands the fault was fixed and the show went on. It was more than likely at the Lake Theatre in Oak Park, IL. during the Hemingway Film Festival in which I had to man the Bauer 16mm that was at the top of the stairs.
