quote: Paul Van Dusen I have to break my tempo to take the reel apart and reassemble it like it should be. I dunno, maybe it's just me being picky.
You need to work in a 6 screen discount house like I do and have to face gobs of those ETS prints with goofed up reels on practically every week's change. Then, you'll learn not to be so picky.
Thing I have to watch for is when the end lead is all crinkled up, or folded in the core slot waiting for me to create a MUT collision into the platter - then is when I don't mind busting apart reels to get rid of that lead end mess in the core slot by getting scissor happy to make it neat - neat so I can put the flanges back together and have it actually clip together more tighter.

..but, once in a while still get reels falling apart, especially the white frosted ones..but I live with it and make the best do... My only small gripe is that when TECH, on those orange reels, uses two different kinds of flanges to make one reel and with this, the rolled leads can't be tucked in as good. Thus, I'll take the danged things apart and make matched sets as possible if I get quite the few mismatched reels for one movie..
OH, the fun things that a projectionist gets to do... - Monte
