An even better option than cardboard would be thick, stiff polyester 35mm perforated film leader: http://www.fpchollywood.com/9120.html Or a length of thick polyester leader could be ultrasonically spliced onto the head leader to provide the protective "wrap around" with a VELCRO, rivet/string, or tape fastener.  |  IP: Logged Jon Miller Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 973 From: San Diego, CA, USA Registered: Sep 1999 posted 08-01-2004 11:57 PM                     The Velcro idea sounds great, John (and others), but if the film-done-wrong club has problems with cardboard reel bands, won't they be just as careless with a Velcro-enhanced band? In my audio-visual travels I've seen one too many cables returned wrapped in knots, the attached Velcro cable strap hanging loose or tied in some unusual way. You would NOT want it on the tail leader however, as it will not run THROUGH the projector as well as thinner film.  |  IP: Logged
