I actually think it will wind up being very big - like well over $100 million.

From the trailer it clearly shows that the King still got it. His death was one of the sadest and most tragic in music History. Looking forward to seeing it but judging from some pre-released statements and the trailer it seems that some parts might be 3d (see MJ jumping out a window dressed in Smooth Criminal and bullets flying towards the screen) and some statements from Kenny Ortega some weeks ago said that perhaps some footage will be in 3D.

But why only for 2 weeks? To get rush and make a "traffic jam" in theaters?

There's no 3D. That's not going ahead, just 2D.
Move along...there's nothing to see here.

It's only 2 weeks because it's going to be a quick rush and fade with a huge first week, and big drop the second. If it holds up well in week 2 I'd guess it'll hold for maybe another week or two, but I'm guessing the quick run is so they can get it out on video by Christmas.

I'll be surprised if it doesn't gross $125 million or more. I doubt we'll play it though.

I think you're right on both fronts...it'll be big...and it'll be in everyone's Christmas stockings.

It's just marketing. Like Disney -"Get it on DVD now because after this, IT'S GOING BACK INTO THE VAULTS!" You can bet that if they are still getting lines at the BO after the 14th day, they will extend it as long as they need to.

And may I say, with all that lipservice as to how everyone on the planet "loved" and "respected" MJ, Hollwood is already out there halking a new movie? And, how can I say this delicately....the body isn't even cold yet! When did they start editing footage for this thing....the minute the hospital spokesperson issued the statement, "Michael Jackson died today at......" Freakin vultures.

I think this has less to do with hollywood and more to do with his estate. He died in enormous debt and his estate is trying to bring in as much as possible to pay it off. The reason for the quick release is that they know interest in this will fade over time so getting it out now will bring the most revenue. If they waited a year the "let's see what he performed like right before he died" train wreck spectacle will be gone and 1/2 the potential audience will be gone with it.

Yup, marketing. And not for nuthing, that family is one bunch of twisted greedy media whores as ever was spawned from the bowels of hell. Did you catch Latoya with Barbara Walters, every word that come out of that freak's mouth sounded like a total fabrication. Can't wait until the media is done with this horror show and moves on to something else. We sure could use a Britney distraction for some laughs about now.

Any predictions as to ticket sales?
Massive, especially for us, I hope we get at least two prints but have a feeling that will not be enough for the opening weekend and 2 for 1 Wednesdays.

It's confirmed for Cyprus release on the 28th. 28th in Cyprus is a national holiday. Exhibitors expect it to be big.
