Pravin Ratnam Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 844 From: Atlanta, GA,USA Registered: Sep 2002 posted 08-03-2013 11:43 PM                     Film or digital, way too many theaters are still failing the grade at displaying movies at the correct light levels. Why don't those techs, use their lack of enough work, to instruct the managers of these multiplexes that their light levels are off? Way too many dim pictures. The worst light levels these days , at least in the Regals, I go to are their big screens which are equipped for both 2d and 3d. It's really frustrating because the managers do not give a damn if you complain about it. These dim pictures seem to have gotten worse in half of the local Regals I have been to. It is truly unfortunate. They don't care. On the original topic, a bit of a update, aside from the status panel on the ceiling and the two rewind tables, you can't tell film was ever in the booth here. It's so sterile its disturbing. Showings begin at 10 am again today. More showings to follow for as long as 35mm film bookings are still available. People can still come to the movies at our theater and see film not video! We have one digital system with 3D but, it is not in use this week. Why you ask? Because the public doesn't want to pay the up charge for 3D. Now we're not going to run film again... until Sunday afternoon, with Branagh's HAMLET in 70mm. February 2, 2012 was our last 35mm screening - Playing "Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol" We inaugurated our digital projection system with 'War Horse" on the following day. The 35mm equipment is still in place - ready for action when this digital fad blows over. While we're waiting, the platter makes a dandy 'Lazy Susan' for digital prints... Sigh.  |  IP: Logged
