Yes, we both actually switched seats and heard this for ourselves. He's a cinematographer, so sound isn't really his area. He still talks about this experience -- and here I am still talking about it -- It was that big of a difference. What *was* subjective was the nagging feeling that it "just didn't sound right" to me -- whereas *he* felt I was just being picky. I do use pink noise to listen for odd sounds. After tuning andlevel setting, I move the mike at least 5 ft and recheck. btw: it is an unwritten rule in live sound that if you bump 6 eq faders, you are done. More than that YOU are the problem or the room cannot be tuned. If you see anything full up or full down, that is wrong. If you see adjacent eq "one up; one down" that is wrong also. The longer live, the LESS eq I use. (I can hear the phase distortion even the best equalizers have.) Louis  |  IP: Logged Manny Knowles "What are these things and WHY are they BLUE???" Posts: 4247 From: Bloomington, IN, USA Registered: Feb 2002 posted 07-20-2012 01:13 PM                     I just had a thought -- our consoles at USC were considerably smaller than commercial facilities -- 32 faders and a center section on a Euphonix for example -- I think you're probably right in that the mic's were spread across the console -- which was often manned by a single mixer -- 3 mics for one person but not literally all in one chair.
