This is clearly a longer tail than Paramount anticipated.
From the "What places (other than arthouses) are still playing 35mm?" thread, a situation is starting to emerge in which there remains a rump of theaters that due to a set of unusual circumstances, are still playing new, mainstream release movies on film, and making enough money to make it worth the studios' while to have FotoKem make prints for them. For whatever reason(s), these places are sticking around for longer than expected. Maybe the "film revival" crowd are seeking them out and going to them, thereby boosting ticket sales?
However, Datasat/DTS quitting the market last month has to be another straw in the wind. I'm guessing that they were expecting the market for that audio system to decline further in the immediate short-term.

If you filmout to an IN, yes, but if you filmout the prints directly? Plus, FotoKem's film business is such a boutique operation now that I'd guess that the cost of consumables (stock and chemistry) and staff time is a larger component of the per unit cost now than it was in the days when 500 to 1,000 prints of a mainstream release would be struck.
