This movie will be interesting. With Inglorious Basterds, Tarantino showed that he can actually direct actors and make suspense scenes work without having to resort to splashing the tomato ketchup around, or f-word this and n-word that. From what I've heard of the script it's essentially a psychological drama, and so he may surprise us all and give us a movie that fans of 1940s and 50s westerns have no problem dealing with.  |  IP: Logged Bobby Henderson "Ask me about Trajan." A Tarantino-directed Spaghetti Western about a bunch of bounty hunters with Samuel L. Jackson as one of the leading characters, a film poster featuring a horse-drawn carriage with a trail of euhm... red paint? No theaters in New Mexico are equipped for 70mm so I'm pretty sure the posters here will not mention 70mm anything. USA Registered: Aug 2004 posted 10-27-2015 10:45 PM                     Here is what is happening up here in the MPLS/ST.PAUL MN area, originally i thought we would be playing here at mullers willow creek, after all we played interstellar in 70 for 10 weeks with no problems & we are equipped with waterfall curtains& motorized top & side masking,also have dual dts readers & players makes for a good roadshow presentation and 2 great projectionist along with my self to run it.just need the up70 lens. we pressed our booker the past 2 week to get a confirmation on hateful 8 and we found out today, it is going to amc southdale which isn't equipped, it would be a new install, also no curtains and no adjustable top & bottom masking plus no body that knows how to run 70.my question is did weinstein's hook up with amc nationwide. also a tech buddy was contacted about putting 70 into mall of america they still have a cinemechanica there weinstein's also told our booker they plan to have only 1 print up here.  |  IP: Logged Steve Guttag We forgot the crackers Gromit!!! If LOOK is unable to play The Hateful Eight that would leave Studio Movie Grill the only practical options in Dallas -by that I mean places where they could run 70mm without botching it. Honestly, Tarantino needs to just debut his movie in just a couple New York and Los Angeles theaters for that Christmas release (and Oscar consideration) and then wait another 3 or 4 weeks for Star Wars to get the hell off a bunch of the best screens. Then again I can't imagine how shitty the presentation will be on these "PLF" screens with silver screens and no masking. If Tarantino wants a proper roadshow presentation to show people how good film can look and to get people out of their homes (and away from watching movies on their tables and phones), the auditorium has to be equipped for it. I understand curtains are probably asking a bit too much for most of these locations, but I'll bet a shocking number of them will suffer the above presentation issues. I agree with Bobby. Because of Star Wars, Hateful Eight will open on screen 2 upstairs. It will be in UP 70mm. We have an AA Norelco and AW3 there. While my boss has not given the official work. BLSI has contacted me about the equipment needed. Am planning on masking the bottom of the screen to the correct ratio. Is a side masking setup but scope is all the way out. We will be installing a larger (and properly masked!) screen for the run, as well as putting in a new sound system. Kerasotes Showplace Icon, AMC River East 21, AMC Barrington 30,and AMC Crestwood will also be screening the film in 70. I'd imagine the Showplace Icon presentation will be excellent, but no idea about the AMC locations.
