The physical disks look similar, but Blu-Ray is one format and DVD is another (older). If your question is, "Will the Blu-Ray look better than the DVD?" the answer is yes, if you watch it on a high definition TV. If you watch it on a standard TV, then it'll still be better but not as much better. I'm sure they digitized the whole movie from the best version available and are just distilling it down to whatever version they want to release. For the most parts hundreds of prints were junked. The studios did not want to pay storage fees for hundreds of thousands of prints. I went to the LA depot and saw hundreds of prints still sitting there, that NFS just left. Last time I stopped by the theater here in SF that I was assigned to about two weeks ago, the print was still sitting (covered) on the platter exactly as I had left it after the last show run in January. I had to leave it on the platter because there was no theater staff around that night to help me pack it up back in the shipping case. The theater told me to "keep the keys' to the building and the booth and that as soon as they got instructions to send it back, they'd contact me to help get it back-in-the-box and outta there. So far, I'm still waiting to hear from them. I got a call a while back that they were coordinating print pickups but haven't heard anything in weeks. Is BL&S just abandoning the machines and platters?
