Sadly as a fan of 70mm, this film just has no appeal to me. USA Registered: Aug 2004 posted 03-18-2016 04:00 AM                     Anybody have a opinion on those 70 dts readers, on ebay offered by mte, that are made from a modified 35 reader. i share readers with the heights theatre but when i'm running batman he has a play date of vertigo on the 14th of april. so we decided to buy the new ones listed on ebay he had 10 listed, so we made the purchase so then he came back yesterday saying he only had 1 ,otherwise we will run off, of one reader ,for a couple days. maybe we will get the one from mte.or does know any body know were some are for sale , we contacted BLS but didn't here any thing back  |  IP: Logged Brad Miller Administrator Posts: 17775 From: Plano, TX (36.2 miles NW of Rockwall) Registered: May 99 posted 03-18-2016 12:02 PM                     David, the odds of a reader dying suddenly are extremely slim. I would recommend you consider making a special "Y" cable so one reader can feed both dts players. If something is going to fail during a show, it will be the dts player itself. The cable itself only needs to be a foot long and connects at the dual player end of a single timecode cable. Note for forum archive purposes, this pinout below is for platter installs only, not changeover. If you had the latest XD10/XD20 firmware though, it could just barely roll through it without dropping audio. That being said, if you are seeing the timecode drop for any more than a flash, you have payout tension issues on your platter.  |  IP: Logged Scott Norwood Film God Posts: 8146 From: Boston, MA. And how often do the players fail, anyway? We had Hateful Eight for over a month of daily screenings with one player (XD20) and two readers (changeover house) and had zero sound issues. On the other hand- - I've had a couple of drive and power supply failures during that same period of time.
