The Arrogant Worms are funny but I would never play that kind of music in public. [Embarrassed]

A couple of my regular customers are "music connoisseurs" who try to figure out the themes that I sometimes invent for the background music before various kinds of shows.

I'll sometime do things like play swing dance music for Spiderman movies and so on. For the last Tarzan movie I played the soundtrack from Austin Powers. Why? He's a swinger, baby!

I do more obvious things like playing Bond themes for the Bond movies, superhero themes for the superhero movies, big band music for period movies and so forth, too.

The Arrogant Worms Christmas CD is just the thing to play for a raunchy Christmas movie like Bad Moms Christmas.

It's my theatre, I get to amuse myself that way. [Smile]

A lot of the time I just play random stuff, though -- one of the music guys will usually show up at the counter shortly before showtime and say, "I just can't figure out what your theme is for this week." When I tell him it's just random this time he walks away saying, "You're evil, Frank. Just plain evil."

The music is OK by me. It's pretty funny. I like groups that spoof different musical styles like The Fools or The Asylum Street Spankers. (Fools = "Life Sucks Then You Die") (Spankers = "Hick Hop.")

I like them but I would not expect to hear them in public.

On the other hand, you know your audience better than I do. [thumbsup]

Darn right you get to amuse yourself Frank! Aside from the fame and fortune of owning a theatre, we enjoy doing the same thing. As you say, many don't notice, though I kind of think the ones who do appreciate it. We live in such a homogenized world, it's nice to see a glimmer of individuality and quirkiness once in a while.

I envy you Frank! I'd do the same thing! Anything to get away from the sterile corporate style

Texas couple accused of theatre quickie ‘should have known better’

quote:
A Texas couple’s quickie went soft when staff at a San Antonio cinema caught them in the act amid a screening.

Melissa Feist-McCuistion, 39, and Adam Emmet Lee, 40, face public lewdness charges after “shocking” a manager who allegedly saw the dirty duo having sex last week in Theatre No. 13 at Santikos Casa Blanca theater.

The manager reportedly told responding officers the brazen lovers were stunned upon being discovered.

"This is a public place," the manager told Feist-McCuistion, according to My San Antonio.

He later told police the stunned movie-goers stood naked “for a long time” after being called out, seemingly in shock.

The couple allegedly carried a small blanket to cover themselves during coitus.

Asked for an explanation, Lee reportedly held up his hand and admitted to the complaint.

"Yeah, man. I should have known better,” Lee allegedly told cops, according to My San Antonio.

“Was stupid on my part ... We were just having a little fun!"

The kinky couple were hauled off to a nearby jail.

Both bonded out by the following morning.

It's unclear which movie was playing.

Well, that's different. I have to admit that I swept up a used condom in the back row of my theatre some years back, though. [Frown]

At least they weren't using a cellphone though, right? [Big Grin]

That's one thing that has never happened here, to my knowledge, although once during my projectionist days there was a couple sitting just under my view port that spread a blanket over their laps and she proceed to "entertain" him with her left hand. It was a weeknight and there was nobody else up there so I just enjoyed the show from about five feet above their heads.

A teenage girl looked up at our Now Seating mylar board and wondered what the initials LBJ stood for. She quickly speculated it meant LeBron James.

Believe it or not, had only ever seen two or three condoms here at the drive-in in 11 seasons. Until this year, and I'm sure it had to be the "same guy" who seems to have showed up about every two or three weeks, depositing the same "3-pack" including carton each time. Kind of grew to hate "that guy" because of course I don't expect any staff to deal with that sort of thing. Other than that, the worst mess of the year was after figuring out the bathroom wasn't smelling any better, figuring out that some young boy had smeared the OUTSIDE of the bowl.....made sense the next morning when we found his fully loaded underwear and inside-out pants deposited out on the field. (Which seems to fit in with the dad I had noticed in the snack bar grabbing gobs and gobs of napkins before the show.) Watching movies naked at the drive-in will certainly be a memory for them.

I had a year or two where every few weeks some woman would pee in the wastebasket in the ladies room. I know it was a woman and not a kid because I had a few shows where there were no kids at all and it still happened.

I really don't understand that. You're already in the bathroom, the toilet is right there....

Maybe worried about catching something from a dirty toilet seat?

I really hate Buzzfeed sometmes. OK, most times. Oh, yes, no one who has never worked in a theater could possibly understand this list. Give me a break.

Someone buys popcorn that was popped ten minutes ago. Then some minutes after that the same customer hears the next batch popping and comes out and says that he wants to dump out his popcorn and have it replaced with the "fresh stuff".

I've never been sure if it's some kind of a scam to get free popcorn or if they actually believe they're going to get something superior to what they already have. Maybe it's both.

I always explain that the popcorn they have and the popcorn in the machine is the same. No dice. I really don't want to start replacing people's popcorn for no reason because then word will spread and I'll be throwing out tons of popcorn, so I ultimately refuse to change their popcorn and the customer usually goes away unhappy. I always offer to give them a full refund for what they paid for their popcorn if they don't like it, but I won't change it for them because what they get would be exactly the same as what they already have. Over the years I've had one or two people who took the refund, threw out their popcorn and then said he wanted to buy a new one. Sorry mack, it doesn't work that way either.

This happens here once every few years and I've never known quite why or exactly what the best way to deal with it is. And it just happened here again this afternoon.

I don't like having unhappy customers like that, but I don't particularly want to open Pandora's Box either.

You could just explain that freshly popped, as in immediately from the kettle, is rubbery and steamy so it takes a little time for it to crisp up. Point out the steam coming from the kettle.

The corn you already have is crisp and delicious.
