They always say something like, "We used to come here all the time when we were kids, and we just love it that you've reopened the place." Only thing I can really say at that point is, "We're glad to do it and thank you for coming back." And then I realize it's because EVERYBODY'S TALKING! I started walking around telling various people to be quiet and it didn't seem to make even a dent in the noise level. Unbelievable! So I went up to the projection room, stopped the movie and came back to announce that everyone who wants to talk to their friends should leave and do it somewhere else, and everyone who wants to watch the movie should stay and be quiet. I restarted the movie and now everyone seems to be behaving. I don't think I've ever stopped a movie due to excessive noise before. Heck, some of the stories from my own posts I had almost forgotten about and were a treat to read and relive. Highly recommend anyone relativity new here to check out the rest of this thread. So I went up to the projection room, stopped the movie and came back to announce that everyone who wants to talk to their friends should leave and do it somewhere else, and everyone who wants to watch the movie should stay and be quiet. I have had movies that tend to draw a large teen audience (PG-13 Horror movies for instance) were they were so loud during the previews that I would have to pause the movie right as it was starting (Production Company Logo) and go in, turn the cleaning lights on and make an announcement for everyone to settle down and keep quiet. I would also be sure to note that this is everyone's one warning and that anyone caught making any further disturbances (including texting) will be removed with NO REFUND. I start the movie and walk into the auditorium after the turn off your cellphone trailer has played. And someone is fooling around with facebook or a video game. "Your phone lights up the room. Please turn it off until the show is over." But the movie hasn't started yet! "Do you see a picture on the screen? Do you hear a soundtrack? Have you considered that some of the other people in this room might want to actually watch the trailers for upcoming movies?" Oh, well, ok then. *grumble mutter mutter* And this is after they have walked past two signs on the wall (one in the lobby and one right at the entrance to the auditorium) and watched a trailer, all telling them to turn their phone off. Even if the studio logos hit the screen, many people just keep on yacking and using their mobile phone. If it is during previews, I usually dont bother with people on their phones (texting and such). I will occasionally say something to the effect that the phone needs to be off when the movie starts. And I will of course make note and check again later (usually looking down from the port windows). I did have a guy the other day that was talking on his cell loudly and even though it was during the trailers I asked him to take it to the outside hallway. "But this is the first 3D movie that I've ever seen so I was just looking up how the glasses work." Not a particularly original or great movie but it does have a few exciting moments in it. Almost nothng for audience count for that one, though. Hopefully Bad Mom's Christmas will finally get a crowd in the door tonight. It's been lonely here for every movie since I finished playing It. I do get a chance to play my Arrogant Worms Christmas Turkey CD for the background music this week, though. It's not often that I get a Christmas movie where that's a suitable background.  |  IP: Logged
