Says they have a "Movie Parlor" Cinetopia’s newest theater venue offering unique luxury amenities and never before seen technologies. Anyone know of any details on what this might be? Cinetopia Progress Ridge 14 The first theater will open in June of 2011 and will be located at the new Progress Ridge Town Center in Beaverton, Oregon. Cinetopia Progress Ridge 14 will feature the latest state of the art technology including digital projection, Dolby 3D Digital Cinema and the finest sound systems in the industry. “We are continuing our commitment to provide an unparalleled movie going experience by driving new innovative technologies and customer amenities. Our new Progress Ridge location will further raise the bar in theatrical exhibition” said Rudyard Coltman, President of Cinetopia LLC. Cinetopia will feature three types of theater venues: 1) Grand Auditoriums with advanced stadium design, 24 inch wide ultra leather reclining seats, extra wide rows and screen sizes up to 70 feet; 2) Living Room Theaters with “skybox” seating, 26 inch ultra leather VIP seats with footrests, in theater restaurant food, beer and wine service, and live pre show entertainment; and 3) the Movie Parlor, Cinetopia’s newest theater venue offering unique luxury amenities and never before seen technologies. Cinetopia will also feature a full service restaurant and wine bar with live music. Similar to the existing Cinetopia in Vancouver Washington, Cinetopia Progress Ridge 14 will feature an art gallery and many other unique entertainment venues. Ticket prices will be on par with other theaters in the area with matinee prices running as low as $8.50 and Grand Auditorium adult admission at $10.75. I thought it was only open seasonal, but when I went out there today the marquee was cleared and the concession stand, save for the soda tower and counters, was gone. I was out there earlier in the year and they still had posters for Despicable Me and that Nicholas Cage adventure movie that was rated PG but I can't recall the name of it...and the concession stand had a lot of clutter in it and on it. There was a note regarding a church sponsored "lock in" on the door from August. This narrows their operational window from December 2009 through August 2010 before they closed. Ayakawa Film God Posts: 2738 From: Waipahu, Hawaii, USA Registered: Aug 2002 posted 06-16-2011 06:22 PM                        Hawaii's only remaining 15/70 IMAX theatre at the Polynesian Cultural Centre on the north shore of Oahu is scheduled to close this fall to make room for a much larger theatrical digital film complex. It is not going to be another digital IMAX facility like the one at Regal Dole Cannery but something bigger and said to be better. The IMAX theatre at the centre has been showing old IMAX documentaries for many years and have not been doing very well. A IMAX film specially produced for the theatre about the voyage of the ancient Hawaiians from Bora Bora and other pacific islands and settling in the islands that is now known as Hawaii has not been shown at the Polynesian Cultural Centre IMAX and that was a shame. The film was excellent and I have seen it several times during my frequent visits to the centre. I even had had the movie on a VHS tape but watching it in that format was such a drag after watching it in IMAX. Registered: Jun 99 posted 06-21-2011 07:48 PM                     In San Francisco, the Haight-Ashbury's wonderfully funky and collective-owned Red Vic Cinema is scheduled to close July 25th, unless someone with deep pockets throws down to save it. This a great old theatre, in a much better location than the original site up the street. Apparently, the lack of revival/rep fare has caused the audience to shrink to the point that they can't support themselves, I'm hearing that the Castro is having the same problem. In keeping with the character of the theatre, they are going out on the 25th with a showing of Harold and Maude. I'll miss the popcorn seasoning bar.  |  IP: Logged Christopher Spiwak Film Handler Posts: 10 From: Utica, NY, USA Registered: May 2009 posted 06-22-2011 01:43 PM                        Follow-up on the West Rome Drive-In closure (Rome, NY) - In a turnaround I didn't see coming, the auto dealership that bought the drive-in just announced that there was enough acreage on the site for their car lot AND the drive-in. They say they will continue to operate the drive-in after they open their new dealership. It was the community support found on a couple Facebook pages (Save The West Rome Drive-In) that prompted them to preserve the facility. Maybe people without cars will be able to "test drive" a new car over to the drive-in!  |  IP: Logged Mike Rivest Expert Film Handler Posts: 185 From: Montréal QC Canada Registered: Nov 2009 posted 06-26-2011 02:52 PM                     Montréal AMC Forum 22 IMAX This was installed in Cinema 5 downstairs where they should had installed it in the much larger cinema 3 on the main floor. Last Saturday night I went to see cars 2 at 8pm and only about 25 tickets were sold. There was zero promotion in the newspapers except for an ad in the newspaper "Metro", which is French. The Movie's was in English.
