If George Lucas released "The Star Wars Saga: The Same Movies, But With the Picture Reversed" there are still millions of fans who would come out to see it. If history is any example, the fans will come out to see this -- they might bypass Episodes 1 and 2 but I still think they will come out to see the last 4 in 3D. Maybe Lucas should do remakes! Warners released a statement saying technically the 3D version could not be prepared in time. It's great 3-D but way to short. I didn't want it to end... Sad that most little kids have never had the quality cartoons we have all experienced. 3-D makes this cartoon amazing... Avatar did a tonne of money...so people use that to justify the sucess of 3D, regardless that even in 2D it would have had strong box office figures anyway. (because it was the new well advertised James Cameron movie.) Shrek 4, Toy Story 3, Saw 7 have (and will) do well at the box office because of the sucess of the previous films in each respective series. Posts: 4247 From: Bloomington, IN, USA Registered: Feb 2002 posted 10-16-2010 07:21 PM                     i think this is true -- and, to this, i would add that 3D gives these familiar (arguably tired) franchises new life -- posing (and then answering) the question, "what would it be like in 3D?" -- hence we get pre-existing 2D material being repurposed for 3D (like "the nightmare before christmas" and soon the "star wars" trilogies) -- btw we have also seen this with standard 35mm fare being repurposed for IMAX -- 3D and IMAX conversions will thrive as long as they generate more revenue (per screen) than their standard counterparts -- or until a more cost-effective (or lucrative) technology comes along -- for example, consider what happened to both 70mm and THX when digital audio formats came along  |  IP: Logged
