Steve and Per: you are both correct. It could be either a danish or swedish ending. It´s the same word. Swedish and danish really has a lot of words in common, as with norwegian. Probably why scandinavians get along so well, except when it´s football, hockey or skiing. It´s only one in a row of words that are funny, seemingly meaning something totally different, and we have quite a few that works the other way around... BTW: Steve´s swedish phrase, for those who didn´t understand, means "That´s enough with all the sucking up" roughly translated... Someone at her hotel wanted the little light signs outside the lift painted over. Odd choice, no? Per: Danish "fart" must have a similar basis than the German fahren (driving, traveling) or fahrt (a trip). In school we used to get a good childish laugh with "Hast du eine gute fahrt? Ja, ich habe eine sehr gute fahrt!" Where did you find this translator? Seems like me and my friends might have some fun with that... And yes, it´s from the same word, both danish and swedish stems from the german language family. We´ve got the same word in swedish, and it also appears in Farewell, (travel good?). Speaking of danish, I grew up in the south of Sweden, close to Denmark, and have been watching danish television all my life. I´d say I understand danish really well, but everytime I´ve been to Denmark and tried to talk to the natives in their own tongue, they answer me in English, and I have to apologize for my bad accent, but that I understand it. Sometimes the danish beer might have had something to do with it. I´ll start thinking of a screenplay immediately. The issue of enviroment is as important today as then, but maybe it´s more of americaland than deutschneyland today. We could have Monica Z and Hasse to cameo appearances. Maybe we should call it "Päronkriget" instead. Max von Sydow could have a cameo as well. To keep this thread from going totally of the scandinavian track I´ll post a picture of my little baby (not so little) but it´s my preciousssss... (Edit: Hey it´s my 50:th post.
