USA (1774.21 miles northeast of Dallas) Registered: Jun 99 posted 04-24-2003 03:51 PM                        So I just got this scanner that will scan 35mm slides, so I figured I'd test it out on these: Downtown Boston, just after sunset a few weeks ago (sorry for the dust on the slide) A weird metal sculpture. And, finally, the obligatory shot of a decrepit projection booth--Simplex E7s, Peerless lamps, and Western Electric soundheads and mag penthouses. I'd never seen Western Electric soundheads like these, either...only the Universal Base-type soundheads (like at the Avon Cinema in Providence, RI). Does anyone recognize those bases? And does anyone know if those motors are selsyns for two-strip 3D? The theatre is a 1500-seat "neighborhood" theatre in the Boston area that was built in 1918, but was closed from some point in the 1960s until the late 1970s, when it was renovated and partially restored for used as a performing arts center. But now when I try, the portrait photos on the left still print well, but the uploaded photos are replaced by an out-of-focus extreme facial closeup, and the text: "ILLEGAL PICTURE!!! The piece of shit who tried to post a picture here is illegally STEALING bandwidth from another web server!" This doesn't make sense. I get the same result when I download the page of posts to my hard drive, and then print it, or when I try to print a single picture from a post, or use COPY & PASTE. Is this some hacker's prank? Or virus? Ive gotten that message before, too! I'll bet anything it's Norton too! That's your problem. It is not allowing the HTTP_REFERER and thus you get the "angry Joe" pic. Turn it off or allow film-tech.com on your approved list. IE's print rendering engine re-requests all the documents (stupid, eh) but doesn't supply ANY environment variables to the server when it does it (even dumber). Use Opera if you want to print the whole page. Use the method Paul outlines if you only want the pics saved.  |  IP: Logged Gerard S. I printed all of Sam Hunter's screening room pics & captions with one click, and mailed them to Robert Sprague, who is very grateful for anything he receives from Film-tech. I printed whole forum threads similarly in the past, but when I try to print the Film Handler's Forum thread on Motor-Generators, the photos are replaced by that stupid punim & insulting text! Right-clicking on a single photo and clicking "print" enables me to print an enlarged copy without the caption, but I want to print the whole thread with photos and texts. Why does Film-tech still alow Joe's silly hacker joke to be part of its program code? Isn't the joke stale by now, and shouldn't it be deleted?  |  IP: Logged
