Kleiman Master Film Handler Posts: 380 From: Sacramento, CA Registered: Apr 2005 posted 03-15-2011 06:17 PM                     The Maverick projector was introduced by Los Altos-based Advanced Image Systems in 2001 and is the successor to the World Odyssey Ultra 70 projector. It replaces the traditional 1570 rolling loop with a "planar loop." I still can't figure out quite how this works. Only two were placed in commercial operation, at the Crown Odyssey theaters in Hartford, CT and Jupiter, FL. In 2002, the theaters switched to Kinoton 435/870 projecors, but giant screen operations had ceased by 2006. They have combined their businesses from what I understand. Sometimes the item location is Atlanta, and sometimes it is Miami. Their stuff is always priced way too high and many times it borders on the ridiculous like the examples above. Someone told me to contact Cinevision in FL. Mr Newton put this booth quote together for me: Used (obviously) Super Simplex projector Used ORC platter Used Strong X16 lamphouse Used Kelmar Mono sound system Used B&L lenses All this for the bargain basement price of $18,000! (Sure you can install it yourself) What a deal!! Thank god I got a second opinion... They'll get you once... unfortunately there are enough nice people out there that can be gotten once that sheisters manage to survive. Sad, very sad. I think that the usage of the silent chain to run the sprocket and that INT assembly was prob the better idea (didn't Kinoton used the same drive concept in some of their FP series..?) Someone got a bunch of these entire projector/console set-ups for less than $300 and $500! Actually, it just dawned on me, I talked to a theater owner last week in the Cincinatti area where these were auctioned off that was selling some Christie lamphouses. He told me he bought some Century projectors and that he was selling off the lamphouses. He wanted $1,500 per lamphouse.
