One of the last films I showed before leaving the cinema business was Dancer in the Dark. As mentioned in another thread I don't support the death penalty. But for Björk I make an exception. Then in my second band I played the quitar and sang lead vocals. I've tested the waters of playing bass guitar, if I actually had a bass I would play it all the time. Since I don't I just use my electric guitar and distort it to make it sound as close as possible to an electric bass. I played the violin back in middle school, that was really fun. But had to quit when I moved to Texas. I'm currently going solo, finished my first CD(very rough cut) about a year ago. I was working on my second CD but never got the chance to record it. I've got the songs and the layout of the CD down, its just actually doing the hard work or recording over and over again to get it perfect is stressful. I've decided to just start working on my 3rd album, so far I've got about 4 songs in the works. I've been playing the guitar since 2000 The drums since 1999 The piano off and on since 1998 I'm one of those people who just makes stuff off the top of their head. I never liked playing stuff that was already out there. I would try to put my own style into everything I do. I never write down my music, I always try to do it off of memory. I just never got back into it... I was kinda depressed about leaving California, that nothing interested me anymore. I can scream unintelligible lyrics into a microphone accompanied by out of tune new-age music, too, but no one wants to put me on the LOTR soundtrack!! Oh, and thanks for giving away the end of the movie, LEO! Rocker chicks are awesome! They have this rugged beauty about them. I still wouldn't mind doing the old "in and out" with those two chicks from "Heart!" Ladies who play classical instruments such as a piano or violin have more of an "elegant" beauty, which I also appreciate. Any sort of artistic talent is great in a person. The Wilson sisters from Heart are talented, but I notice only the picture of the "skinny blonde one" gets posted. For every good looking rocker with talent, I'm willing to bet there are at least 10 to 100 (if not more) boasting equal or better talents -but are unable to get into the music business because they don't look good enough. Most successful yet ugly rockers these days have to kind of slide into position. For instance, I really like the Foo Fighters. But would their kinda ugly frontman, Dave Grohl, have been able to achieve success if he had not already got his foot into the door being the drummer for Nirvana? quote: creative people are a turn-on, plain and simple That's not always true. This certainly applies for the part of the country in which I live. Being a degreed, professional artist has never been the thing that won me any girlfriends. More often than not, it gets me a one-way ticket to the "friend zone." Of course, I'm not the kind of guy that women are going to find instantly attractive. So its always that "get to know you" thing, followed by "I don't to do anything to ruin our friendship" bit. Yeah, great. Just another addition to the pool of platonic female friends who call me up asking me shit about why guys do what ever or even tell about their last sexual encounter. Tell that crap to another woman! I was with a girl a few months back who really took pleasure in seeing my drawings and whatnot. She actually said that it turned her on. She asked to see them, I didn't offer. Except when you are in a band with one... SOOO JOKING! www.citybysea.com We've been playing together for quite a long time through different incarnations. And I play bass, both electric and double. Also piano, guitar, cello, viola, mandolin, lap steel... just about anything stringed cept middle eastern instruments and I can keep a "four on the floor" on the drums. I have engineered, produced, regionally for quite a few bands and singer songwriters, done live sound and booked for clubs in the Syracuse area. Played in youth symphony and in bop jazz while in my teens on double bass, played live or in sessions in jazz, classical, rock, folk, country and r&b... but anyway, enough of my cv... I find myself more attracted to females who are "artfull" albeit musically, art, literature, photography etc... actually I am definitely more attracted to women who are impassioned about what they believe.
