Well Dr. Edwards and I would have to agree to disagree on that point, or at least be specific on definitions of what qualifies as a good drawing. Anyone can learn basic drawing skills, and the exercises in her book are great tools to use to accomplish that. But very few people are going to reach levels of drawing excellence boasted by artists like Da Vinci, Michelangelo or Degas. It is not easy at all to get that good. quote: Speed comes with practice. I'm bringing in the mental aspect of visual problem solving and approaching drawing tasks in a productive manner. Jen, you are fantastic, as are all of you that have posted here. As the others have said, there's alot of talent here. I cant draw, but I have rebuilt a lawnmower engine, and a Ford 6 cylinder truck engine with no training. Recently, I rebuilt my Holmes projectors. I love to take things apart and put them back together again!!! Back to Tim's argument: Going by that logic, there is no such thing in the world as talent. Playing a musical instrument is a skill just like drawing. Acting is a skill. Etc etc etc. Talent does not and can not exist! The actual size of this drawing is about 12 x 12 inches. Currently still life "stacked boxes", with no shadows or real detail. Just plain old contour line drawings. The class assignment was one + two point perspective. It wasn't fun to constantly use a ruler and very uncomfortable wooden seat/desks(the kind that doesn't have a back to them). So I'm hunched over for about 2.5 hours. I want to sue the company who makes these desks.
