So much for that curse. The Yankeeeezz have gotta be crying and whining to their mommie now. The assholes. I wonder who George Steinbrenner is going to fire over this thing this time.
I could not give a luke warm popcorn fart if the Yankees see another world series for the next 500 years. They've been "bogarting" it for too long anyway and it got Goddamned boring! Shit, get the Mets in there for Christ's sake if a NY team is going to represent in the 'series. The Yankees, and their fans, are just damned boring. At least the Mets and their fans appreciate getting in the biggest series in all of baseball.
And I can say that with authority seeing as how unappreciative and overly cocky as many Yankees fans had become over the years. I lived in New York City for five years and saw the arrogance for myself. At least the Mets fans kept it in perspective and had some humility. Yankees fans act like it is a crime against God if they don't win a world series every year. It is only fitting that Boston finally gives them a boot in the ass. I'd also like to bring up how the Florida Marlins kicked the Yankees' ass last year. Damn I'm tired of the Yankees. Hell, I relished it when the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Yankees in the 2001 World Series, the one series where a NY team seemed destined to win. That is how boring it has become for the Yankees to win or even appear in a World Series. It is about damned time they took their turn at being a cellar dweller team.
The next thing on the agenda, a world series victory for the Cubbies! Cubs fans have been doing more suffering than the Red Sox.
Also on the to do list, at least some kind of world series appearance for the Houston Astros. Their franchise has gone the longest amount of time without even a world series appearance, much less a win. I still cannot get over how they choked against the Mets in 1986 in the NLCS. They got even closer to the World Series this year. But this was Boston's turn. Sometime soon it has to go Houston's way.

Ok, not sure why people do what they do but I know from experience that the equipment is expensive! Not that they should have a problem with that...
My guess is its for luck and the old saying, if its not broke, don't fix it. The moldy old helmets work so why replace them? And when you find a bat you really like its hard to get used to a new one. I don't care what anyone says...you can weigh and measure your wooden bats all you want but no two are ever the same, they just don't balance the same. So it really sucks when you break one... ![[Frown]](frown.gif)

Players use pine tar to improve their grip on their bats. Often it is applied directly to the bats; Nixon said he puts it on his helmet so he has better control over how much he gets on the bat handle.
"It would be a different story if John Henry or Larry Lucchino or Theo [Epstein], the team ownership had come to me," Nixon said. "And if the fans had say they didn't like it, that it was ugly, I'd pay attention to that. But I'm sorry, I don't think this should be such a big deal."
