It was a chihuahua mix, the tiniest thing, ... if it weren't because he was so fat. It was really funny to see a dog with tiny-tiny legs and head and then be so round. Anyway, had to take a picture for the "found dog" leaflets I planned on leaving around the vet's offices if it didn't have an ID chip (animals are required to have ID chips here, but some owners don't necessarily follow all the laws ...) Anyway, the dog's owner was found the next morning, so all is good. It turned out his name was Pepe and was 11 years old. From what I understand, it is very bad to let a chihuahua get fat because they are so small. A normal chihuahua is only supposed to weigh 5 pounds. If it is only 5 pounds overweight then there literally could be more fat than dog. Yappy, little dogs are bad enough! Bit me the first time I caught him (I don't blame him, had to chase and corner him to pick him up), but he was so small the bites didn't do squat (I knew they wouldn't, as I'm used to handling two toy poodles). After some 2 hours of misstrust, he then proceeded to follow me everywhere and "do" everything I told him to. Too funny. From that point on, he would be fine with everyone, allowed to be pet by family, didn't bark or anything and was sweet all around, which is not all that common with chihuahuas (which the vet told me he was not, but had some mix of it in him). I just can't get over the size-to-weight ratio of the thing. Sooooo amazingly tiny and then so fat. Lol. What you can see in the picture sort of in the background is a patio door with glass on top and the (thick) wood frame below. Lying down he is no taller than the door frame!! The owner, by the way, was a professional cook at a restaurant ... He was fine and great for an 11 years old (fat) dog!!! And made me chase him for a while to catch him.
