Prior to 2000, any movie with CGI effects simply had those shots output to film cut into all the other footage processed the old analog way. O Brother Where Art Thou was one of the first (if not the first) movie to be processed entirely with a digital intermediate. That was at the end of 2000.  |  IP: Logged Jennifer Pan THE JEN! I've used it on a good number of sign designs, but usually not as the main titling font. It's a no nonsense font with a certain flare for technical themed stuff, but without looking freaking goofy at the same time. It's perfect for something like the title work on 24. I'll agree it seems out of place in the Indy IV trailer. At least they didn't set the type in Trajan. Whenever Bank Gothic is used in some national print ad or title work for TV or film I chuckle a bit. Certain design snobs who publicly trash CorelDRAW are "closet" users of it, for things like the wealth of clip art and fonts like Bank Gothic.  |  IP: Logged Jennifer Pan THE JEN! I'm not the only one to rant about the over-use of Trajan. My own rant from 6 years ago: thread linky. Something I Illustratored/Photoshopped in that thread: I'm sure some hair-splitters will pop in say, "but they're not really using Trajan anymore; they've moved on to Trajan Pro!" At least "pro" is a true "small caps" font. I can't stand it when people artificially create a large cap/small cap effect by setting the first letter in a larger point size. Not sure we really need any more than that. Nowadays I don't think there's a specific difference - in fact you hardly ever see a trailer marked "teaser" anymore. I got curious about this, so I just went to the booth and looked over our inventory of trailers. Not one of them is marked "teaser." Some of them just say "V1" or the like. I disagree. A decent number of teasers are made. The first teaser for The Dark Knight is what I consider to be a true teaser clip. The footage is just a graphic of the Batman logo crumbling apart from some explosive force in the background. Voice overs play as the logo falls apart. The teaser for Star Trek currently playing in some theaters also qualifies as a real teaser clip. Lots of other "teasers" are merely shorter length trailers. They show a good amount of action from the movie and even spoil parts of the movie. The "teaser" for Indy IV falls into that latter category.  |  IP: Logged
