I'm going to remember this month the next time Paramount has a marginal movie they are begging dates for. Apparently they are not taking any single-screen dates in smaller towns (in this area at least). Our booker says it looks like there will be fewer prints of Indy than there are for Iron Man! I thought those days of print 'allocations' were long gone. But if Indy doesn't work out, we'll play Narnia. It's nice to have a good alternative for a change...usually we'd be stuck with some depressing low-grosser and a bunch of irritated customers. At least this way the kids'll be happy. We may only get one week to play it instead of the 3 weeks we planned on, because I don't want to wait into July for Indy, and I don't want to wait on Wall-E either. There WILL BE digital prints of this for locations that are all digital or only have film gear left on their smaller screens. From every article I've seen it will be available in digital only in 100% digital locations that don't have 35mm capability. I'm not sure if this the case, my brother in-law is the projectionist here at our Carmike 14 and they were going to get 3 prints on film because they are digital/film ready, however just this week they were told by bookings that they were only getting digital and no film, and no explanation as to why. Here I am, ready and willing to play their damn movie on a real film projector, in digital sound, for their #%$& 3 week minimum, and pay their 70% or whatever it is, and they're still waffling over how many digital copies to make and where (or whether) to send them.
