I shouldn't be having to do this on the very next page of this thread.

RIP Crash and Dolby

 -

The two kittens died this morning at the vet. They went in for a regular declawing. The vet has 36 years of experience and has never lost a pet, but Crash had a heart attack AFTER the procedure when he was resting in his cage (they had a heart monitor hooked up and was a few feet away from him when it went off, but couldn't save him). Dolby turned out to be one of those rare cats that is allergic to gas and died within a few minutes before anyone even touched him. They were from different litters.

The vet sent tissue samples off to see if they can turn up any reason why Crash died. I notified the organization we got Dolby from so they could alert the other families that adopted his litter-mates not to use gas for any procedures just in case.

It's bad enough to lose one, but two in one day is not cool. [Frown]

Not cool at all. Three cats in such a short amount of time. My condolences.

Oh dear; very sorry to hear that. And 13 wasn't particularly old for Kitty, either.

Everytime I take my pets to the vet for any kind of proceedure, they ask if I want him tested to see if he is allergic to the antestesia. I always do it the first time. With my new dog, I decided not to test him. I will be testing all of my pets now. [Frown]

So Brad, using the same mathematical formula, you'll apparently have to get 4 cats the next time -- or possibly 6. (Which isn't a bad thing!) Condolences on your loss...I don't have a cat now but I still think of my growin' up cat, "Whitefoot," often.

Gosh Brad, I too am at a loss for words about the untimely passing of your "new babies". My heartfelt condolences go out to both you and Chris.

Take two

 -

We picked up these two tonight. (One is wearing a temporary collar so we could tell them apart.) Their mother abandoned them at 2 weeks and they have been taken care of by a very nice and knowledgeable elderly lady who has devoted her entire house to saving cats. They are between 4-5 weeks old. We haven't given them names yet. For the next 3-4 weeks we have to keep them separated from our other cat, The Dude, for his protection since they are too young to have their first shots.

 -
This one (purple collar) took to me right away. All he wants is to be held to make him happy.

 -
This one took immediately to Chris and is quite the furball of energy.

 -
Here he plays...

 -
...and plays some more...

 -
...and continues playing until Chris gave up and let him have his victory moment.

 -
 -
They seem very happy to be here and are both extremely loving.

What breed are these cats again? You say the breed really like humans and it seems to be true.

Russian Blue. I don't know what it is about this breed, but they are the best cats ever. You should get a pair.
