Reminds me of the ActIII style booths I used to service. A Drive-In wasn't a Drive-In if it didn't have at least a good dozen Motiograph amplifiers hanging on the walls next to the rewind machine - with those large output tubes inside glowing and flickering blue at times. Also, a booth isn't a booth unless it has either a rectifier full of glowing Tungar bulbs, or a spinning "gennie" in the next room which whines a little louder when you strike up the arcs in the 2nd lamphouse. Albeit, I don't believe anything was turned on at the time, but it wasn't cluttered and dirty, was it? My first booth was an ActIII booth. Actually, so was my second, but the first had the amp racks behind the screens in addition to the sound processors and automation being mounted in the console. Knowing no other way I was indifferent to this until 1) it was my turn to finally be assigned the chore of cleaning the amps, and 2) I experienced the words "Now, I need you to go check the amps..." when on the phone with a tech. Turning to my right was so much nicer than going downstairs, crawling behind a screen, etc. Cleaner, too. I did like the space and room around the projectors at my first theatre, but the booth was very roomy to begin with and floor equipment being stored in the booth had no effect on cleanliness and operations (however, the booth being open to the lobby did). My second theatre's booth was crowded and hot and filled with all sorts of stuff. My current booth has nothing in the lamp house console that doesn't actually relate to the lamp except the automation. So, I have blinky lights to my right and to my left.
