Vanessa Hudgens hand freaks me out the more I look at it. I'm not sure whether it's the missing finger or the fact that her thumb is about twice the length it should be. Not so much that Megan Fox is suffering male pattern baldness (abnormally receding hairline). What I'm talking about is the freaking lack of Trajan. Trajan is a type family designed by Carol Twombly in 1989 for Adobe Systems. It was inspired by the lettering carved into the Trajan Column, a certain sculptural piece made many centuries ago in tribute to the Roman emperor Trajan (his full name was Marcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus). Adobe Systems has bundled Trajan in certain versions of Adobe Illustrator. In recent years, the OpenType version known as Trajan Pro (which features a true large capital-small capital character set) has been bundled in with various Adobe Creative Suite applications. In movie poster culture, Trajan has become the Helvetica (or Arial) of movie poster title design. It is a default, knee-jerk, no-brainer, go-to font when a designer can't seem to come up with anything original. Trajan, despite being a beautifully designed typeface, has become ubiquitous, over-used and even boring. Yeah. Boring. Typical Hollywood movie poster these days: some "A-list" actor's bulbous potato head all Photoshopped to smoothness with a title set in Trajan. Hoo-ray.  |  IP: Logged
