This series was part of a network news show originally -- he would take a camera crew on the "back roads" of America and film small town people doing unusual jobs, or quirky products being made, odd scenic sites, etc. My dad and I used to watch it on the news so it brings back good memories of him. Kuralt famously said, "The interstate highway system allows you to drive across America without seeing anything." The DVDs also include updates on some of the people, places and products featured. There are 3 DVDs in the set and it's subtitled "Set 1" so I'm not sure how many volumes there will be.  |  IP: Logged Manny Knowles "What are these things and WHY are they BLUE???" I also have a Nikon 50mm that attaches with a simple adapter. The manual aperture goes down to 1.8. I love that lens. Then there is the bad-ass ultrasonic EFS 15-85mm which has an aperture that goes down to 3.5 and has image stabilization. This one will see the bulk of every day use. We'll definitely get more. Posts: 10973 From: Lawton, OK, USA Registered: Apr 2001 posted 03-03-2010 05:18 PM                     The Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM lens is one of the best general purpose zoom lenses made specifically for "crop body" Canon DSLR cameras. It has a large f/2.8 aperture throughout its entire zoom range and L-series grade ultra low dispersion glass elements. The lens also boasts 3-stop image stabilization. The only things that separate this lens from L-series models is metal contruction and a red ring. The EF-S 17-55mm is not cheap. At $1030 it's priced somewhat similar to other L-series zoom lenses. When I had the Canon Digital Rebel XTi I was very tempted to buy the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM ultra-wide angle zoom. It has framing equivalent to a 16-35mm lens on a full frame camera body. The lens has aspherical elements and a Super-UD glass element that helps cut down barrel distortion. Out of L-series zoom lenses the most popular are Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM* Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM Canon EF 17-40mm f/4.0 L USM *there are less expensive 70-200 L-series models, a f/2.8L model without IS, a f/4.0L model with IS and another f/4.0L without. There is also a new 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM II lens on the way with a pretty steep $2499 list price. Yes it beats that because Pixelvision was only 240p unless you recorded onto a Hi Bias TDK cassette tape when it jumped to 720p.  |  IP: Logged Bobby Henderson "Ask me about Trajan."
