It's sort of a "Robotic Starbucks". You Place & Pay For Your Order At One Of These Kiosks Then this robotic barista-thingy makes & serves your coffee to you. No More Snooty Baristas - - - - - and there's no tip jar! I haven't had a chance to try their product yet, but it's gotten good reviews online, and the price is a bit less than what you'd pay at a Starbucks. I'm wondering how long it will be before we start seeing this type of technology making & serving popcorn & sodas at cinema concession stands? It was being shadowed by a car with a bunch of cameras and antennas on top. A decal on the car door said "CRUISE AUTOMATION" Robots are apparently taking over the world. What next? Suppose somebody decided to kick all the projectionists out of their booths and automate everything? Permits for the permanently disabled in CA are on the license plate (and his clearly isn't a disabled plate), but temporary ones (for example, if you're driving around a relative who is recovering from a broken limb) take the form of a pennant that you hang from your rear view mirror. He may have had one, but if he did, it isn't visible in this shot (pun not intended). Just to be clear and prevent the risk of this becoming a political discussion, my original comment (that I hoped that his line of business and being in a disabled spot were unrelated) was based on the speculation that he might be in a disabled spot because he'd accidentally shot himself, not an expression of any view about the regulation of gun ownership and use.  |  IP: Logged James Westbrook Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1133 From: Lubbock, Texas, Usa Registered: Mar 2006 posted 03-17-2018 01:33 PM                     Understood. I could easily shoot myself and eventually end up being allowed to park in handicap spaces. I assume the gun shop owner has to be legally parking as the fine for parking in one of those spots without the permit can be quite expensive, depending on the city or state.  |  IP: Logged Frank Cox Film God Posts: 2234 From: Melville Saskatchewan Canada Registered: Apr 2011 posted 03-17-2018 02:12 PM                        When handicapped parking first became a thing, the Saskatchewan government issued special license plates with a wheelchair logo on them. Shortly afterward, they stopped doing that because (it was said) those license plates indicated an easy target for bad guys. I don't know if that was based on any particular incident or not. Now, and for the past many years, handicapped folks get a card to hang from the rear view mirror instead.  |  IP: Logged Leo Enticknap Film God Posts: 7474 From: Loma Linda, CA Registered: Jul 2000 posted 03-17-2018 02:42 PM                        I'm guessing that enforcement of disabled spot eligibility here isn't very effective (even if the fines are high on paper), because abuse of them is said to be widespread. But that could be because getting hold of the permits legitimately is easier said than done. My wife was offered one by her doctor during the final two months of her pregnancy, who sent the relevant paperwork to the DMV. This pic was taken about 50 yards from a kids' playground in our development, too. I've no idea if this is snake is poisonous and/or inclined to attack humans, but it was not in the least bit bothered by my coming within a few feet of it and pointing my phone at it.  |  IP: Logged Martin McCaffery Film God Posts: 2481 From: Montgomery, AL Registered: Jun 99 posted 05-20-2018 12:25 PM                        Not going to claim expertise here, but looks like a garter snake, which is completely harmless.. Most poisonous snakes in the US have big triangle heads (not that you want to try to figure that out in a panic). The big exception is the Coral snake, which is also the deadliest.  |  IP: Logged
