I should've known it would take a "Jedi Master" to figure out the CAP code!

And for all you trivia people, Gordon's last post was not only the post to finally offer some sort of proof to this ongoing saga, but also officially made the CAP code thread the longest in Film-Tech history.

Sequence of dots? Interesting. In a previous post, it was mentioned to look at the frame besides the numbers I noticed on certain reels. I noticed some odd dots on bright frames, the frame next to the numbers. I also noticed that the dot pattern would change, but repeat every so often, so that must have been the matrixed version. I have only ever noticed these numbers (and now dots) on reel #2, no matter the print. But why is it always reel 2? What happens if I order a new reel 2 for some reason? Or cut out one frame every 6 feet? (I can't remember how many frames it is exact, but I know it is every 6 feet or so). Just cut out a frame every time there is a number. I'm not a bootlegger, but the CAP Code would be fun to defeat. I wonder why Keeping the Faith was CAP COded? Who would want to bootleg that? And how much money would the studios lose if somebody did? It was a bomb! (not "Da Bomb").

I know a guy who does TAP inspections and he showed me the tons of forms they must fill out. These guys have to look at everything. It's really amazing how thorough the reports are. Anyway, he said that the reel 2s are always CAP coded. Until this topic came up here, I had no idea what the hell that was. He told me it looked like dirt on the film and he was supposed to always ignore dirty reel 2s because of it. So Carl must be right that they only code the second reels. I will start checking all of my reels for this starting this week. I wonder how hard it would be to actually crack the code?
