Author Topic: Cyan Tracks Dominic Case Expert Film Handler Posts: 131 From: Sydney NSW Australia Registered: Aug 2003 posted 06-24-2004 01:45 AM                       I believe this is post number 600 in this thread and I claim the prize There is a weakness with any proposal to send out cyan trailers: theatres that are so far unconverted are unlikely to do anything for a 3-minute trailer, but they might sit up and take notice if 100 minutes of program plays badly. In any event, trailers tend to be mixed quite loud (that's a whole different topic, please don't go there on this thread) so I'd expect a number of the unconverted theatres to not notice the 11db loss or to regard it as an improvement! People on this list are excluded from the above generalisations - I think all film-tech readers must be aware of the issue by now. Meanwhile, we have 50% tone loops in cyan available for known non-LED theatres in our market region (Australia & NZ) which should be enough to prove to anyone whether their projector can handle cyan track correctly. Steve  |  IP: Logged Stephen Jones Master Film Handler Posts: 314 From: Geelong Victoria Australia Registered: Jun 99 posted 03-16-2005 07:01 PM                     Recieved our 1st cyan feature yesterday from BVI, The Pacifier so things starting to happen here in Australia,Print was done by Atlab in Sydney I presume (perhaps Dominic can confirm this? ) so it will be a first rate print as SR.D allways has a error rate of 0-1 when printed by Atlab never had anything with high error rate from them. cheers, Stephen  |  IP: Logged
