I had sent Landmark E Street (DC) a Facebook message if their engagement of 'Son of Saul' was going to be 35mm, they said no, but as of a day or so ago, the Washington Post advert for the E Street engagement DID say it would be 35mm exclusive engagement - guess that changed at the last minute.  |  IP: Logged Leo Enticknap Film God Posts: 7474 From: Loma Linda, CA Registered: Jul 2000 posted 01-11-2016 12:47 AM                        I wonder how many of the places playing the 35mm prints have 1.37 lenses and plates? I've noticed that on both the prints I showed, the subtitles were positioned very high on the frame, so they're obviously expecting some venues to play it in 1.85, either in error or out of necessity. The two prints I showed both arrived uncued, too - I had to scribe cues onto both of them.  |  IP: Logged Shawn M. Their lineup this week (February 19-25) is: Creed The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 In the Heart of the Sea Inside Out The Intern Point Break None of these movies were even released in 2016, and one even dates back to June 2015. The Intern was September 2015. The others were released in November or December. If 'In The Heart Of The Sea,' 'Point Break,' and 'The Intern' are the "go to" movies for even a sub-run 35mm multiplex, that is a very bad sign for the current state of 35mm availability. It isn't as if Pacific doesn't have the booking muscle to get newer 35mm prints, there just are not any newer 35mm prints to be got.  |  IP: Logged Bill Brandenstein Master Film Handler Posts: 413 From: Santa Clarita, CA Registered: Jul 2013 posted 02-24-2016 05:40 PM                     Rick, you have to keep in mind that Pac5 is in the shadow of Arclight Sherman Oaks, and all "new" 35mm releases are usually week 3 before they get their print, so they don't compete with each other. Having said that, it's been over a month since their latest print (Creed) and they are seriously starved for new film. Going back six years, the only major issues I ever saw were on the ads, where they had some film fog that made it into the soundtrack and image area. I'm sure bigger glitches were out there, but no prints that I can recall running myself. And of course, the horrific, wild color timing, with no attempt to group reels by color trend, colors all over the place.
