Once me and a co-worker had arrived at work early, before we opened, and a manager had not yet showed up, so we had to wait outside. A customer came up and asked in a confused tone, "Why are your lights off?" We arrived early like this pretty often, and all the time customers would come up asking what time we opened, even though the sign on the box office clearly said 6:30.
Customer: "What movie would you recommend we see?" Me: "Hmm, The Rundown." Customer: "Hmm, okay. We'll take two for Secondhand Lions."
On the day The Missing and Haunted Mansion opened last year, the matinee shows were VERY slow. For the moment, one guy was working both box office and concession (which were part of the way across the lobby from each other). My coworker told me that this lady had bought a ticket, and then went to concession. He moved to concession to take her order, and she asked, "Oh, did they hire you guys together?" "Huh?" "Well, your twin just sold me a ticket." "Oh! Um, yeah, they hired us together. It works out really well because we can ride to work together."
Customer: "How long is X movie?" Coworker: "About an hour and 40 minutes" Customer: "And what time does it end?" Coworker: "An hour and 40 minutes after it begins, it'll end." And apparently she understood him clearly, because she cheerfully replied, "Oh, okay. Thanks!" (That was the same coworker from the last story, FYI.)
