That's what one lady did yesterday at the AMC Clifton Commons. Customer: Is that in the afternoon? ------ This amused me: 5pm showing of Elf Customer: What time does that finish? Me: 6:40pm Customer: Woah! That's a really long film! Approximately 7:35pm. I get a call over the radio that the cashier needs me up front. This cashier happens to serve as a shift leader, so I knew that it must be a pretty major issue for him to call me. I get up front and a woman (in her late 40's to early 50's) comes in at me with newspaper in hand.. Before I even get a chance to inquire as to how I can help her she berates me about this being the SECOND time that times were wrong when she came to see a movie. She also threw at me the fact that she was "local" and named a few restaurants (like I gave two 's). Being that I had already checked the daily paper, I knew that she was incorrect, so I asked her if she had checked todays paper... "No, I looked at Kicks (weekly entertainment insert w/ times and feature reviews/etc that is in the paper each Friday) yesterday". I began to tell her that times are subject to chzange daily when I was rudely interupted and told "Don't give me that crap that times change daily--that's just BULL" the woman blurts out. OK... so I see that this lady is beyond working with... so I pick up my copy of todays tear sheet and point out that the times are, in fact, correct and I'm sorry that she somehow has made a mistake... Upon doing so, I realize that the paper she had pushed in my face was from NOVEMBER 21 . I pointed out "Ma'am, I think the probelm is that your paper is from 11/21". With a puzzled look on her face, she began to stammer and him-haw around.. but never really offered a sincere apology, which is fine becuase it gave me great pleasure to make her look like such a stupid winch in front of her husband, who stood there with a blank look on his face. (I saw immediately who wore the pants in the family ) It's sad that people act this way. It's even worse that they act like this in front of their own GRANDKIDS! I didn't mention that part earlier. Needless to say, I found a show that started close enough to the time they arrived so that they would not miss anything other than a few previews and sent them on their way. The whole thing had me a little at first, but after she walked away, I got a huge out of how stupid she had made herself look not only in front of me, but he general public, her husband, and her grandkids and their friends. It is Christmas day, looking over our past few years of business for the day we figured we would do about 1000 people for the matinee. We in reality did 4500 for the matinee, and had the staff for 1000. Only one person complained about us being so understaffed, and he was yelling at an usher about the situation, when I interrupted and asked him if there was something I could help him with he started to wimp out on his tyrant. He finally said to me I think should have called in more staff, I replied "It is the damndest thing I have ever seen, all my staff requested the day off, is there something going on I do not know about?" "My wife is blind in one eye, can she get in for half price?" Heard a couple of thousand times as patron picks up the SALT shaker for the popcorn "Is this cheese?" When I went to see The Texas Chainsaw Massacre there were school age kids in there. Any theatre that actually DOES enforce the "no outside food or drink" signs at their doors & boxoffice displays probably gets a bunch of this: 1. If they get past you and get their stuff into the auditorium, they consider themselves "home free", and really cop an attitude when told they need to take their stuff back to their car. 2. The ones who insist on arguing the point, even after being (pleasently, but firmly) told that the problem started, not when they were confronted with their contraband, but rather when they chose to pass the signs and test whether they actually were meant for THEM. 3. These are the best... if you have time to deal with the crap... or are allowed to: "Well... YOU DON'T SERVE __________________ AT YOUR SNACK BAR", so I had to bring my own. Last week, I had that line used on me, as a way to explain why the customer felt she was justified in bringing in her own " fresh-brewed tea ". I said, "Yes maam... that's true. We also do not serve cheese burgers and pizzas, and you won't be allowed to bring them in, either". It's amazing how many people try, though! Oh, yeah... the guy with the microwave popcorn... good one! Some years ago, we had someone come into our drive-in concession with half a pizza he'd bought at one of the area stores... and wanted us to "heat it up" for him.  |  IP: Logged
