I smell bullshit. If they forgot to switch their clocks BACK, that means their clocks said it was 8:00 when in reality it was 7:00. Therefore if they were following their clocks, they would have been an hour late for the movie
Actually, that's incorrect. If you were coming to a show that started at 7:00 but you forgot to set your clock back, you would arrive at the theatre when it's now 6:00.

On the other hand, if they forget to set their clock forward in the spring, they would arrive at the theatre for the 7:00 show when it's now 8:00.

Yes, yes, I know - as about three other people have said. I got my spring-forward and my fall-back backwards. I was just so excited at the prospect of catching Joe in a mistake that I posted in too much haste, I guess! [beer]

I guess I didn't look through enough messages to see where others had pointed it out. Sorry about that; I wasn't trying to thrown salt in the wound.

They'll get up an hour early, go back to sleep, and then show up late.
Sadly, I've done that before. Got up too early, realised I had extra time to snooze, and ended up falling totally back to sleep, and thus oversleeping. It's been a while, but it has happened.

We had a manager once you could set your clocks by...as he'd miss both going into D/S (late for work) then he'd be there an hour early at the other end.

Never missed.

I remember long ago at my old theater, I was getting confused as I walked around our booth because I threaded one movie, walked to another room around the corner and realized the time was about the same as when I had started threading the first room.

Then when I looked around I realized that the time had changed the night before and the guy who opened had to change the clocks on each automation (since there was no central clock) and instead of looking at his watch each time he set the clock, he simply set them all to the same time. So by the time he was at the last one, 5 or 7 minutes had past but he didn't seem to notice.

I remember one from a couple of years ago where an irate customer came to me complaining because our ATM machine "ate" her card. No believing me when I tried explaining that it would be impossible for the ATM to do that, I finally had to walk her over to the machine and show her that our ATM was one that you swiped your card (as opposed to feeding it). Sure enough after digging through her purse a bit more, she found her card and sheepishly walked away.

Amazingly, I had the same thing happen here a while back, only with a man and his card was in his pocket! I even opened the top compartment where the card reader is to check, because he was so insistent and honestly thought the machine took his card.

The one that gets me are the people who lose their tickets. I swear that 9 times out of 10 they put it away with their change. Most of the time when I suggest this they get bent out of shape and tell me that's not possible. But then they open their wallet and there are the tickets.

Usually gets reduced some if your box employee hands the tickets/change separate from each other.

Woman knocks on box office window at 12:35 as we are getting ready to open (we open at 12:45). Cashier goes to window and the woman asks "Is the 1:10 showing of Taken playing" (we have has 1:10 posted all weekend).

I can kind of see her point in asking because usually don't open until 3:00 on weekdays. Except for the fact we are here preparing to open.

I just wish people would just engage their brain for 2 seconds before asking a question.

Three days ago, I had a customer who peed in the theatre right on to the carpet. Needless to say, we charged him cleaning costs and ushered him out.

Anyone else notice customers are getting stupider and stupider?
I feel like we're nearing the limits of the pressure cookers that are melting their brains and soon there will be a huge explosion of stupidity...

Lately we've had the following:
- Customers demanding refunds after Tree of Life because they didn't like the movie -- there was a mob threatening an assistant manager with lawsuits (last show of the night, money all deposited and locked up) because she couldn't give them a refund (posted policy is no refund after 40 minutes of feature).
This manager quit soon after this incident.

- Personally had a customer quote the law about "false advertising" to me because a coupon book from a 3rd party company not owned by uss re-sold passes of ours that say "pass restrictions may apply, contact theater for details" on them. Her argument was that pass restrictions ALWAYS apply so it should say that; obviously this isn't true. Durp.

- Today an assistant got chewed out because our showtime line (which says matinee for shows starting before 6pm, and then shows starting after 6pm) doesn't explicitly say 6 o'clock shows aren't matinee.

These are 3 of the weirder ones. But yeah...We've been getting a boat load of these kind of dumbass complaints.
Seems like more and more people are trying to extort passes or something by saying "I'll write a letter!" or "I'm going to sue!"

What gives!?

You know you have worked at a movie theatre too long when....

A customer walks up to you at the ticket check, hands over the tickets and says "Do you have a mental problem?"

First time I've ever had that in 8 years in the business.

(This is after a long debate with a customer who first tried to get three people in with only two tickets)
