Marquee Cinemas closed their 14-screen theatre in Reynoldsburg (Columbus) Ohio on Saturday, December 3, 2005. It had been opened since March, 2004. This was housed in a 1999 Regal site that was open for only 2 years. (Not a very successful site, so it seems!). The company had hoped to attract food franchises to vacant areas of the building, but was not successful.

Newspaper listing ads are still running in the Columbus newspaper.

The Sprint IMAX Theater at the Kansas City Zoo is scheduled to close today. This is the second closing of a 2D IMAX theater from the mid-90's within the past seven days (Western Fair IMAX in London, Ontario closed Nov. 30) On the bright side, two MPX theaters opened at CG CVJ cineplexes in South Korea on Dec. 1.

The Linden 3 in Caldwell Idaho, is closing its doors on January 8th after being open for 25 yrs.

As of yet, there will be no cinemas in Caldwell, a population of almost 30,000 for the time being. But things could change with the advanced growth in this area-with the construction of a new freeway exit/overpass being built near this city.

Hi Eric:

Sad to hear about the Galaxy. I have always enjoyed having a meal at Tommy's Joynt and catching a movie after.

That sucks! The Galaxy's only three blocks from where I live. Hopefully they won't follow with the Metro.

For the right price, they will.

It's already a booking disaster as it is.

BTW, are there any Malco folks on this forum?

Hi Eric: Others:

If UA was smart they would move the seats from the Galaxy over to the Stonestown Twin.

Actually, I find the seats at the Stonestown Twin quite comfortable. They just don't face the screen is all. [Razz]

In Spittal/Drau (Austria) they are building a big mall with a cinema in it. It will be from the "Cineplexx" chain (which happens to have the majority of cinemas here in AUT). It will have 4 screens and a total of 540 seats. It will be opened in April 2006 and I will be projectionist there (at the weekends).

Century opened their new 16 today at the South Coast casino, the latest of the Coast neighborhood casino properties. This one is at 9705 Las Vegas Blvd. So. - way way south. It will be the first large casino most people will see driving in from SoCal on I-15. And a very striking golden building it is, even the windows are coated with gold foil. There's also a 64-lane bowling center on site as well as a large equestrian exhibition center opening next month. Coast hopes to attract a mix of locals and tourists with this new place.

Stations Casinos will have a new Regal multiplex opening at Redrock Station in April. And the Cannery Casino has a new multiplex in the works. Stations is planning another large casino property to be called Aliente Station in the extreme north part of the valley, scheduled to open in 2007. It too will have a 'plex.
