Carmike has turned over their theater in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania to our company effective May 27, 2009, and we were more than willing to move into the second fastest growing community in that state during the 1990's. As was the case in the Hermitage, PA takeover exactly one year ago, all eight digital units were removed and the original Simplex and Strong film equipment was reinstalled. Having assisted in the reinstall, I can tell you the equipment at the Cranberry location was much better taken care of than was the case at the other former site.
Once again I'd like to thank the guys at American Theater Equipment Company of Lancaster, Ohio for another quality job. John, Scott, Bill, and George busted their butts in order to get five-out-of-eight houses ready to go and once again made the deadline. A special thanks goes out to Scott and Bill who stayed on an additional week to get the other three units up and running.
Not a lot of media coverage regarding the change in ownership, but I found this.
Cranberry Cinemas to reopen under new management

Moviegoers in the Cranberry area will have another option, starting this weekend. Cranberry Cinemas will reopen today under new management. The theater will show first-run films, and some independent films.
The new management has plans to focus on movie-related promotions. For example, on Monday nights, all movies are $5 and each customer will receive a small popcorn. There also will be a "Large Popcorn Bucket," which customers can reuse on return visits for discounted refills of popcorn.
Renovations will begin in the fall to add stadium seating, and new seats. There also are plans for upgrades to the concession stand, lobby and restrooms.
Cranberry Cinemas, at Cranberry Mall on Route 19, is owned by two local families, the Harper family of Pittsburgh and the Moses family of New Castle.

Fade to black: Bonita Springs movie theater closes its doors

BONITA SPRINGS — That’s a wrap — for a local cinema. Regal Stadium 12 in Bonita Springs closed its doors Sunday evening.
Merchants and customers of The Prado at Spring Creek shopping center on U.S. 41 were stunned to learn the theater was shutting down after nearly nine years.
The cinema has no notice or information posted regarding the closure. A manager of Regal Stadium 12 confirmed its demise.
Brad and Cindy Muckel, of Naples, said as they exited the theater that they had no idea the doors were closing. The couple said they frequent the Bonita Springs cinema because it is less crowded than nearby theaters.
“We like it because it’s less busy,” Cindy Muckel said of the closure, “but I guess it has its drawbacks.”
A manager for Stadium 12 said, the movie theater currently has close to 20 employees, including managers. With three other Regal cinemas nearby employees may have an opportunity to transfer to a new location.
Merchants and cinema customers said they assume the newer theaters at Coconut Point mall and Gulf Coast Town Center have hurt business. The Gulf Coast Cinema 16 in San Carlos Park is also a Regal cinema and has been open for nearly three years. The Hollywood theater at Coconut Point in Estero opened in Dec. 2007 and is the closest to Regal Bonita Springs.
The cinema is the latest business to hang the “Going out of business” and “This space available” in their windows at The Prado. The spaces to the left and right of the cinema are empty along with several other spaces spread throughout the strip mall.
Merchants said they found out the theater was closing from a local news source over the weekend and are wondering what will happen to the strip mall.
“It will definitely affect us, especially during the busy season,” said Norma Lopez, manager at Crispers restaurant in the mall. “We don’t know what will happen but there is always the possibility that this could close down the shopping center.”
Lopez said the movie theater brings in a lot of business for the strip mall and all the merchants are wondering what will happen after it closes.
Associates at Wilford and Lee Home Accents said no one knew until they saw a story on a local television news source. They informed their manager the next morning and she had not heard the news either.
The associates said they are not concerned for Wilford and Lee since their customers are very specialized but the shopping center could be affected.
Bonita Springs resident Edward Sidor said he comes to this theater with his wife about once a month.
“It’s really convenient for us,” Sidor said. “I’m sorry to see it go but that’s life.”
