Started with AMC in Swansea, MA in 1979 as an usher/projectionist. Moved several times with AMC, GCC, and National Amusements as manager until becoming a technician in 1986 with RCA. Currently, I'm the Northeast Manager for NCSC (National Cinema Service Corp.) Yes, I work for Charlie Achee in New Orleans, LA. (our corporate office). I've been with the company since 1986 (technically RCA back then). My office is in Fall River, MA but my territory spans from Maine to Virginia and as far west as Ohio. I've had the pleasure of working with great technicians such as Phil Jacquart and son Ken Jacquart, Lonny Jennings, and Jeff Corman in New England. Currently my division consist of 20 full time technicians and 3 subcontracted technicians. With over 2500 contracted screens and numerous demand screens it keeps me very busy. Fortunately, I'm with some of the best technicians in the country. Guys such as Dave Ayers, Trevor Bailey, David Berti, David Blake, Paul Capuano, Carl Criscuoli, Dan DeVoe, Steve Geiger, Larry Holmes, Mike Labbe, Andy Lizotte, Chuck Mayfield, Mike Merrill, Jay Pregent, Al Orlando, Terry Seiley, Mark Sudduth, Tony Tress, Tim Tress, Kurt Vinje, and Andy Webler. Can't see myself doing anything else nor would I want to. This is my career and hopefully I can retire in this profession. Registered: Apr 2001 posted 11-29-2002 05:17 PM                     Hi all I'm ken McFall. Currently technical manager of The Stratford Picture House, Stratford. London... Stratford is soon to become a hub of connectivity with the Channel Tunnel. Property prices are rising... locals are being forced out City Screen, my employers, are an independant exhibitor mainly within the Art House sector. My theatre is however mainly main stream. This is a four screen complex with THX in screen one. My position within the company changes day to day depending on who you speak to. I am generally the subject of abuse fron a certain outside contractor, but I rise above it.... and get the odd dig in when I can. I service our most northerly site in Aberdeen.... simply because no one else wants it. Its nice to be needed! I am fortunate enough to have a free hand within my site and it boasts the highest overall spec within the company. I love my job on any day that ends.... without stress. I work with a great management team that provides tons of laughs and support. Projectionist, well film-handler as many now call it. I learned in an old single screen changeover theatre, but used a platter if the movie was going to stay awhile. Ive been working in the theatre business since I was about 14, I hope to continue on and become Asst. I'm female, 21 and a projectionist. I've been with my company for 6 years and have been in the box for 4 years. I live in Queensland Australia and am based at Pacific Fair cinemas (12 screens). I also have been doing quiet a few shifts at Mermaid cinema (5 screens) which I absolutly love, it is 21 years old and runs Victoria 8's. Also I get the occasional shift at Coolangatta cinema (6 screens). I am very much into my job and love what I do. I live in Encinitas CA thats just North of San Diego, I have been a 16mm film collecter for about four years I have around twenty features 15 or so shorts ,cartoons & trailers. I am almost done with my screening room its 11'x26' I am using two like new Bell&Howell 179's. I have two rows of vintage seats that or from the 20's or 30's that I still need to restore, The screening room is 1930's Art-Deco style big crown moulding and lots of woodwork. I'm a finish carpenter by trade so this was a fun project to do because it was two hobbies in one, I also collect records over 5,000 but thats another story. I think thats all for now I look forward to posting here with all you. Better known as the summer of Batman, Ghostbusters II, and Honey I Shrunk The Kids. I worked as an Usher/Cashier/Concessionist, then went to college that fall. I spent all my time in the college movie theater with the RTVF guys learning about film done right, and thus, flunked out of college for lack of studying! I went back to AMC and did everything from usher to projectionist to manager, but my passion was in projection. I quit AMC out of frustration and attended classes at the now defunct Computer Learning Center and now work as the Senior Network Engineer for a "chain" of nursing homes in the Philadelphia, PA area. I have since gone back to AMC part time to make some extra pocket money, and try to do my little part to clean up the presentations in the area. For me, it's more of a hobby then a job. It's something I do for fun more than anything else. It's safe to say that I'm now running the booth at this theater now, and I'm loving every minute of it. I worked in the University film theatre Union Films. During my undergraduate to help pay for my studies I became the weekend projectionist at Harbour Lights regional film theatre where I stayed until they went bust. I was on Film-Tech awhile back when I worked as a projectionist at Cinemark Tinseltown 17 in Erie, PA (although I was then Rachel Kovacs -- I got married this past August, so I have a new name to go with my new theatre, heh.)
