I'm Gregory Allan Jones Jr. I've been working as a projectionist for Laemmle Theaters for almost four years. I've been full time since early this year. I run an independent, one-screen, non-profit movie theatre in Wayne, Nebraska. It was a movie theatre from 1929 until 2008, when it shut its doors. A group got together to reopen it and after a full gutting and rebuilding, it's now fully digital and absolutely beautiful. I have never run a movie theatre before, and being a movie geek isn't quite enough to get you through the learning curve! I recently just defended my PhD thesis in mathematics. I have always had a love for the cinema and I thought it was always such a great honor when working as a projectionist. I had such a love for those 35mm machines and it was sad to see some people treat the equipment so poorly. As I am a mathematician, I do spend my time collecting 35mm equipment for my home setup. I always tell people that the only thing you need to know to be a projectionist is how to count to 4. I have been in this position for approximately 5 months now. I actually come from the live theatre side of entertainment. Making the change from there to film/digital has been an adventure to say the least. Hoping to help all I can make the leap from 35mm to Digital before it is too late!! Cheers!  |  IP: Logged
