I began as a booth operator in Norfolk, Va. in 1958 while I was in the Navy. When I was discharged, I moved back to San Antonio, Texas in 1960 and began booth work as an operator member of L407 IATSE/MPMO. I spent many years in this field and when HEMISPHERE 68 came we were all gainfully employed in multimedia. The University of Texas at S.A. Institute of Texan Cultures put me on as head projection technician with their 38 projector multimedia film presentation which consisted of 6 ea 35mm projectors, 10 16mm projectors and 22 slide projectors,all xenon. This coupled with sync drives and a magnasync 35mm tape transport for audio. I held that position until 1995, when I retired. AS far as I know, this show is still running. I ocassionally fill in as a projectionist or manager. No longer doing the professional film thing... the Limelight Cinemas died an angry death. After sucking up money faster than an old boat I ditched it after a year. Finally getting back into the film collecting hobby again. Have been spending the past week rebuilding my Simplex E7 and SH1000. Memory is fading tho... had to pull out the manual on how to rip apart the intermittent. heh. Used to be able to do that in a few minutes without the need for any books. (thank god Brad has the manuals online). I am a 20 y/o currently attending the local community college. I'm Head Projectionist for our 350 seat art deco theatre. First paycheque was sep 1999 so I've been working there over 4 years now. We run two Gaumont-Kalee 37 projectors (1952? I'm unsure), carbon arcs, 2000 ft reels and mono sound. They still throw a pritty good picture too, provided you know what your doing.  |  IP: Logged Chris Liczbinski Film Handler Posts: 33 From: US Registered: Oct 2003 posted 10-19-2003 12:38 AM                    My name is Chris Liczbinski, I started working at our local Cinemark ("Grand Prairie Movies 16" - dont let it fool you we have 15 screens) as an usher and moved up to consessions then to the box office and have been in the booth for a few months now. I have been soaking up as much information as I can and trying to get through the manuals we have for our equipment. I am one of 4 booth people we have for our 15 screens, we just have one projectionist scheduled per shift.
