My name's Linda, I'm a manager with Regal, in the DFW area. I worked for AMC in college (1997-1998) starting in concession and working my way up to booth/supervisor/trainer/senior staff at an 8-screen. I then took a break from theatre life until 2001, when I went to work as an asst. manager at Regal in OKC. I was promoted to GM of a small theatre here in Arlington, about weeks after an 18-screen AMC opened .5 mile away. We managed to get things going well for a while, but the theatre closed in December. Since then, I've been floating in the area, until I relocate back to OKC in March. I was actually referred to this website by one of my corporate booth guys as an awesome place to find manuals for some of the equipment in my 20-year-old theatre. Geeze, if your equipment is only 20 years old it's fairly new. There are theatres still using equipment that's 60 years old and more. Sonoma Cinemas staff projectionist. I do stuff... umm mainly trying to fix things when ever the break and keeping the booths clean. Thanks for your understanding on this. -Wolff [ 03-02-2004, 10:00 PM: Message edited by: Wolff King Morrow ]  |  IP: Logged Lauren Fisher Film Handler Posts: 12 From: Dallas, TX, USA Registered: Sep 2003 posted 02-25-2004 03:06 AM                     somehow i missed this topic when i became a member... i am called lauren by people i know or dont know, i am called buddyess by my best friend at work. currently while being a full time student i slave away, well thats a little strong, i work at cinemark at legacy in plano. ive been up in the booth a little over 2 years and have myself broken records over there. after about 2 months of working at the cinemark theatre i was moved into the projection booth, and since then i've loved it. before working at cinemark i worked for a 14 screen theatre in south ft. worth, hollywood theatres and i wasnt allowed in the booth because of a former ub who dropped a print of titanic, and that ub happened to be a female. so if you guys post remarks about females in general...mean ones ill come after you!  |  IP: Logged William T. I was at the Legacy back in the middle of December visiting Mr Konen when a female projectionist came into the Large auditroium we were at the front of with a very long piece of Head leader from a film she was building for a public sneak. Was this perhaps you? Currently aged 23, living in Melbourne Australia. Started in cinema in 1996 working front of house, learnt projection in 1999 and continued as a part time projectionist until I left the industry altogether in late 2000. After almost two years of painful call centre work (why I did that I'll never know) I got back into it for a different company (Anderson Cinemas) full time, and have since gone on to become Technical Manager. This site has been invaluable to me as a wealth of technical information, and also for finding out what to expect from prints since we often get them so much later down under. Be gentle with me. I'm a member of the Case Western Reserve University Film Society. I've just recently gotten to the point where they'll trust me alone in the booth without setting fire to anything. Well, anything IMPORTANT, anyway. There are three other regular projectionists, two of whom have been there a long time, and the other a relative newcomer like myself. We're running a pair of Century JJs with analog sound, soon to be upgraded to Dolby digital. This will, sadly, at least temporarily eliminate our ability to show mag 70. But once we get some nice person to cut a hole in the front of the projector to let the film out, that will be restored eventually. (And who knows.. maybe we'll rob enough liquor stores to put in a DTS system someday.) We show a mix of sub-run and older stuff, with the occasional studio sneak thrown in for good measure. Probably our best thing is the annual science fiction marathon. 15 movies in a row, and no fair leaving to sleep! I probably won't post much, though.  |  IP: Logged Jason Miller Expert Film Handler Posts: 241 From: Little Rock, AR, Registered: Mar 2004 posted 04-06-2004 08:48 PM                    My name is Jason Miller, I am currently a projection and sound tech for REG theatres (the new mega company comprised of United Artists, Regal Cinemas, Edwards cninemas, Hoyts theatres, more to come I guess...). in 1994 I found my self in Phoenix AZ.. at a tech school.. without a job.. and going to see a movie twice a week. so I figured I might as well just get a job so I wouldnt have to pay for movies anymore. I ended up working there until I went back to Colorado to go to an engineering school. I had already been bitten by the projection bug though.. and it wouldnt be long before I found myself at the mercy of a splicer. I have been with United Artists for the last 5 years. I started at the Meadows 12 in Denver Colorado as a booth manager, worked for about a year at the Greenwood Plaza 12 in Denver, became a Projection Certifier after the merger (Trainer). When the Colorado Mills 16 theatre opened up on the west side of Denver, I opened up that booth and ran it for a year. in December of 2003, I became part of the tech services department. I had been shadowing the great Pat Redmond for the previous months and was ready to get my feet wet. I installed the new St Louis Mills 18, and now I currently oversee 141 screens at 10 theatres in AR, MO, OK, and MN. I dont take very good pictures or I would post one.  |  IP: Logged
