How about this for a return to topic:

With the traditional "Pride Month" upon us, any theatres seeing an increase in gaiety? Anyone at an indie doing GLBT film festivals?

Yes. We have very high-tech gaydars installed in every auditorium in our theater and looking at our charts it has indeed increased by a substantial amount. We will keep tracking this and make graphs as appropriate.

ROFL now that's funny... [thumbsup]

I just finished my run of Renaissance Fest, and the results are in:

This year, over six weekends, I did not manage to offend anyone at all. I usually average at least one complaint a weekend to the fest owner about "That fag in the sword booth" saying something inappropriate. [Big Grin]

So according to my "boss" I have a credit of two "miffed off" and one "really pissed off" person as freebies for next year. [Big Grin]

I usually get in trouble for making sexually suggestive comments.. imagine that. [Smile]

Charles, don't worry about your weight. Some people are just naturally "skinny."

I was always at 5'9" and never over 135lbs. all the way to age 35. Now I'm still 5'9" but weigh in at 170. I have a bit of a gut, and I too have a difficult time developing muscle mass, a not so good thing when trying to motocross.

Again, back the the basic idea of enjoy who you are, and don't sweat what other people think. [thumbsup]

Tim,

There's always the "old school" option. Pill #1 = tapeworm. Pill #2 = tapeworm killer.

HA! I've considered something just about as radical (lap band)! [Razz]

The vast majority of people who do that (or it's more invasive cousin, gastric bypass) gain the weight back after the procedure is over (after the band or staples are removed). It clearly doesn't treat the underlying reason you gain weight.

I'd see a nutritionist way before that. They're cheaper than the surgery and have a better success rate.

Not quite Chris. Gastric bypass, yes. Lap band, no. With gastric bypass the body doesn't get the nutrition it needs and the muscles wither away. With lap band and careful extra protein intake, it does work. It's not a one time and you're done thing though. People I know who have had it done DO have to go back to the doctor every 6 months for a "fill" where apparently they stick a needle in your armpit and add or remove some of the solution to expand or shrink the lap band ring depending on if you are gaining or losing weight. I don't know all of the details about it, but that's the jest of it.

You missed what I was actually getting at.

If they do reverse the procedure (remove the band once they've lost the weight), the person usually ends up gaining the weight back. That's why lots of the surgeons are now recommending that the band be left in permanently.

All I'm trying to say is that seeing a nutritionist/dietician first is a cheaper and less invasive solution.

Well, I'd only thought about it, since evidently I don't have the fortitude to stick with eating properly and working out. I keep losing and gaining the same 50 lbs. over and over.. not good.

Well even after being blown up by mortars and having been shot a few times and having a Purple Heart medal, as I get older (and wiser), I'm now a total wuss about all them thar medical things.

Operations, surgery, and needles to lose weight are NOT for me. If I wanted to to lose weight, I would do the tape worm thingie. [Razz]

BUT! There are guys that are "Chubby Chasers"...so I don't bother. Not that I'm "Chubby", but just pleasantly plump. HA! [beer] [Big Grin]

Not that respect for you was lacking any to begin with, I didn't know you'd gone through that. Definately much respect.

Its "easy" to lose weight, just like anything else in life, you need the time and discipline/hard work to do it. Now for morbidly obese folks, like 125+ pounds over a decent weight, you'll probably need some sort of surgery, if only to remove all that excess skin [puke]

Mike, you are one of my heroes in this!

The current problem is I just can't get psyched up about it like I was a year ago. Yes, I would agree it was somewhat easy to drop that 50lbs. of mine - maybe that's part of the problem; I think it IS so easy that I can go back at any time... so I don't prioritize it.

As with the year previous, I fell off the wagon at Thanksgiving. [Frown]

Somebody start a new thread on weight loss please. A few random comments is one thing, but this is getting ridiculously off track.
