Anyone else in the DFW area get this kind of damage? Well, not all good. Another branch about that size fell on the roof on the other side of the house, on to my skylight. It cracked the seal when it fell. Everyone was in the living room watching the weather reports, and my boyfriend (the umbrella guy in the picture) went through my room to use my bathroom. He ran back out into the living room to announce that there was water all over my floor and the skylight was leaking. The next morning I had to go up on the roof with a chainsaw to cut the branch apart, and then duct tape the skylight seal shut as a temporary fix. Stupid skylight. It later turned out that building work next door had disturbed its roots. It was a good job that this happened in the middle of the night and that no humans or cars were underneath it at the time, as there was no warning whatsoever and no abnormal weather (e.g. rain, high wind, or anything like that). Used until the 1926 suburban line electrification. Casey Jones is said to have used this engine when he ran commuter trains during the 1893 World's Fair. Now at Illinois Railway Museum. Engine is Virginia & Truckee 4-4-0 #18 (Central Pacific Sacramento Shops, 1873) aka "Dayton." A good choice to have on this site since from 1938 to 1978 it was owned by Paramount Pictures (from 1969 to 1978 it was leased to the National Park Service which displayed it at the Promontory Golden Spike Site in Utah). 50 years in da movie biz...just like Phil.  |  IP: Logged Scott Norwood Film God Posts: 8146 From: Boston, MA. But the RDC's (Rail Diesel Car, a self propelled car with underfloor engines) were running there into the 1980's. A bunch of them were converted to unpowered coaches and push-pull control cars. In the early 90's those were sold to Virginia Railway Express to run out of DC. IRM's car is still intact with the engines (though doesn't run -- yet). It was originally built for the Chicago & North Western and is supposed to be one of the first built. There are still a few running here and there. Their most visible feature, besides being a basic stainless steel fluted-side car, is a hump on the roof where the radiators are.  |  IP: Logged
