Thompson of Oak Harbor, Washington, 64, died suddenly Thurs. July 8, 2004. Paul was en route from his home in Washington to be with his ill father. He was born Feb. 11, 1940, in Manitowoc, WI, son of George and Ethel (Steffen) Thompson. Immediately after graduating from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, WI, he joined the U. S. Navy, and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. Paul was a Motion Picture Projectionist in Oak Harbor and Chief Engineer for KBRC and KAPS660 Radio Stations in Mount Vernon, WA. Paul had a strong fondness for assisting people in computer programming, repairing complex electrical components and motion picture projection equipment. Paul was survived by his loving mother, Ethel (Steffen) Thompson of Franklin, formerly of Kaukauna and Manitowoc, WI; brother and sister-in-law, Nels and Bonnie Thompson, Owatonna, MN; brother and sister-in-law, Kent and Janice Thompson, Hales, Corners, WI; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Carol Thompson, Appleton, WI; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends from around the country. His father, George W. Thompson of Franklin, formerly of Kaukauna and Manitowoc, WI, preceded him in death, only by hours. Visitation for Paul will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sat. It's interesting to know that he had family in Owatonna, that's just about an hour down the road from my theater. I haven't been an active member of these forums over the past couple of years, but peek in every now and then to see what's happening. I logged on earlier today to show one of the managers the pictures of the Dallas dinner theatre that didn't move prints, and later on to see if I could find some info on a couple of films. Both times I hit the forums button before the page had a chance to load, so I had no idea until i logged on a few minutes ago. I still haven't read all of the comments. I never really conversed much with him on the forums, but enjoyed reading what he had to say. I met him at Brad's about two years ago and even though I didn't have much to say, I wished I had. The last I saw of him that night, he was laying on the floor of Brad's screening room and I said goodbye as I was leaving. I guess he just doesn't like to be far from a projection booth for too long. Goodnight Paul. So sad that we'll see no more nuggets of his wit and wisdom. He always posted things worth reading - either for information, or amusement. Blessed are all who had the good fortune to know him. I'll be lighting a candle for him, while my thoughts are with his family and friends.
