In spite of what people in the stock market may be doing, much of the nation is enduring quite a middle class squeeze. People on the lower end of the working class are getting f**ked in the ass even harder. With all that's going on these days to add pressure on everyone's lives, I would make sure to give a pizza delivery guy at least a nominal tip to cover his expenses for bringing pizza to my door. I appreciate the service, but I also don't want to piss off the guy either. He knows where I live after all! It cost him money out of his pocket to provide that delivery service. That cost is NOT covered at all by the price on the pizza store's menu. Just about everybody knows this fact. Some just choose to ignore it. But as Brad pointed out, people can ignore this truth to their peril and get a pizza with some extra boogers, loogies and maybe even jizz mixed in with the sausauge and cheese. Last week I got a Papa Johns delivery. It was $11.something. I gave the guy $15. It was A Great Pizza. Today I got a comp Pizza coupon in the mail from Mr. Papa John. "I believe that your last papa john's experience was not up to our standards. Enjoy a 2 topping large on us...yada,yada" Thats some good customer service....but Im a little grossed out. Someone being delivered on the same run probably called and complained that they screwed up something with their order, and they sent you the comp instead by mistake. Or, in their opinion they took too long to deliver you the pizza. We had asst. manager that had a deal with this pizza place nearby. He would trade a 5 gallon box of pepsi for a large special topping pizza. Now that's a Tip. The cost of a box of syrup was around $20.00 . I had a slice of the pizza, one night.
