And if everybody chose not to tip a pizza delivery guy, you would see that "free" delivery service quickly disappear. You would get charged automatically a set fee for delivery. On top of that, the prices of pizza would probably go up as well. Because what idiot is going to use their own vehicle to deliver any pizzas if there is no financial incentive to do so? All pizza places would have to start buying and maintaining company vehicles. That cost would get passed on to all the customers.
Obvously, and this would be a good thing for both the delivery person who is now getting paid a reasonable salary, and the customer who is no longer going to feel pressured to tip.

It cannot sit well that much of the programming and IT industry is getting shipped off to India. But then I could cop the same attitude and say, "it's not my problem. I want cheap or free software."
I'm not sure comparing pizza delivery and cheap overseas labor works. There are too many different issues involved. However, speaking as someone who earns most of his living as a computer programmer, I can say it is really not your problem. As much as it would be nice to think that people will not buy products that compete against American jobs, let's face it, that is just not going to happen. Ultimately, those of us in the industry and our society in general will have to deal with this problem, but for the moment, people are going to buy the cheapest software, just as they bought the cheapest manufactured goods 20 years earlier.

I found out that for a large pepperoni pizza, without adding in labor costs, is roughly $2.91 cost to the store. We sell a large pepperoni for roughly 11.00 with taxes.
As far as tips go, people think that the delivery charge is mine...it isn't. I only make .75 a delivery. On a fairly busy night, that is roughly 10.50 that I get in mileage only. Tim, you get paid per mile you drive. Also you don't need the tips since, you drive a company truck. Your fuel is paid for, and most other amenities on the road. (I've worked with a few truckers, yes this is true to a point.)
Most truckers make about 25-30,000 a year. I only make about 11 if I'm lucky.
