I bet the only reason why Allison Benedikt has such a good seat is because she's the new girl, and all the crappy seats were already taken. I've been to this screening room once, for a fantastic double feature of TIGERLAND and THE QUILLS. I was warned of the territorial nature of these critics. I got to the theater early and intentionally sat one row from the back and one seat from the corner. My thinking was that no one would want to sit there. But everyone ended up sitting in the corners, and there was this huge dead space in the sweet spot of the auditorium. So, in between movies, I went to the bathroom, and when I came back, someone had moved into my seat. She said, "Oh, I'm sorry! I thought you left. Here, let me move." I actually pick seats like Ebert's. For the same reason. Especially today, with kids cutting anamorphic movies like MTV videos (they have no concept of audience eye movement and fatigue). That, and it's close to the exit; so I can dash back to the booth if they're having problems.  |  IP: Logged
