Posts: 1219 From: Denver, Colorado Registered: Nov 2003 posted 04-19-2008 06:28 PM                        I went for an afternoon drive today and I finally decided to check this little store out (Fresh & Easy), having seen a couple newly built ones down here in AZ... It looked like a cool store so hey better now than never and I went to the one 3 miles from my house. As I'm walking behind this couple who were entering the store one of them gives me a shopping cart... that kicks ass!! I knew from right then this was going to be an awesome store if even the customers are this nice! BTW, so far there are only locations in CA, AZ and NV. Not incredibly busy or dead but a decent flow of people going in and out. BTW... it indeed feels like a very fresh market... and clean. A lot of self branded products and organic products not to mention the brand named ones. The highlights were the fact that they had a pretty sweet wine/beverage aisle and heres the kicker... ALL self check out. (At least 10 registers). I didn't have to deal with anyone which is AWESOME. As I was leaving one of the workers walking by said "thanks for shopping" with a smile. Sales have been WAY below expectations, and they've put a freeze on new store openings for the time being while they retool the idea. I find that people at these "alternative" grocery stores like Whole Foods are generally friendlier than say Safeway or Albertsons, but of course like any place you get back what you give, if you dont smile or make small talk or smile you probably won't get that back.  |  IP: Logged Jennifer Pan THE JEN! Got quite a lot of press here, along the lines of British and European retail trying to break into the US market usually meets a sticky end.
