John, because you have always been a pater familias to all of us at Film-tech, your courage in the face of adversity calls to mind these line of the poet when his father was stricken: quote: Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I'm coming into this discussion very late, but words unsaid don't do anyone any good...
While I've never had the pleasure of meeting you or having a personal conversation, John, I have always respected your viewpoints and comments, and I have tried to absorb the knowledge that you have imparted here and in your Kodak publications that I have read.
I am saddened to read of your recent health issues, and it is my hope that you find the strength to change what you are able to change, and some peace amidst what you cannot.
The comments here are evidence of the impact that you have had on this community, and the recent photos you posted provide us a glimpse of your impact as a father and grandfather as well.
Good luck and good health,
Scott
